"A fantastic camp on the Aub river"

2 nights Arrived 2 Jun 2016
"The largest of the three camps we stayed at but this doesn't detract from the wilderness atmosphere at all. The camp is sited on top of the south bank of Aub river with spectacular views across the dry valley. The two river valleys, the Aub and Nossob, really do define the Kgalagadi and this camp really is in a classic location.

The chalets\tents are modern, spacious and kept scrupulously clean and tidy by the camp staff. Kitchen facilities are in their own separate unit adjacent to the chalet.

In contrast to the other wilderness camps we stayed at it is possible participate in game drives as the camp is very close to Mata Mata. We went on a very good night drive and the vehicle called at our chalet to pick us up. You see a very different set of animals at night and we encountered bat eared foxes, cape foxes, owls and even a porcupine. On our first night we awoke to the roars of the local pride of lions and the jackals regularly supply their own rather eery howls and yelps." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 8n in South Africa

"Wonderfull wilderness Camp with a view"

2 nights Arrived 22 Nov 2015
"Perfect setting on Aoub riverbed. Well maintained, kind caretaker.

Super view to the riverbed from terrasse. See animals come and go.

The "tents" (huts) seems quite safe. All kitchen equipment present - only bring food and drinks (og buy at Mata Mata 3 km away).

You can easily use 3 days here enjoying the view, reading a good book ect." See all these reviews: 10n in South Africa

"Tented Camp - self-catering - perfect"

2 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2015
"Kalahari Tented Camp is self-catering - take this literally ! There is a gas fridge and hob (plus cutlery & utensils & pots and pans) but remember to bring everything else with you - not even a box of matches is provided. This was not a problem as Mata-Mata shop is within 4 km, but don't get caught out by leaving cooking too late only to find that you can't light the gas or BBQ !

Accommodation was perfect.

The campsite is not fenced, so game do wander close by - Wildebeest in particular seem to like coming up from the valley. The view over the dry river bed is extraordinary - waking up, looking out of the window and seeing giraffe at the waterhole was memorable.

There is a small swimming pool but no other facilities. And so what? You're there for the game and the experience, not to sit by the pool.....

If I had two small suggestions for improvement, they would be : (1) a box of matches would be nice (2) the waterhole is floodlit at night, but with what appear to be a 20w bulb. A better light (on a timer to keep night-time black) might make just-after-dusk viewing better" See all these reviews: 13n in South Africa

"One Meerkat Safari !!"

2 nights Arrived 11 Feb 2015
"We spent 2 nights at this excellent tented camp which overlooks a natural waterhole in the ephemeral River Auob. The tents are comfortable quite roomy ( there were 4 beds in ours) and have an ensuite shower and toilet. The well equipped kitchen is a small separate structure with a verandah area in front with table and chairs. There were more chairs on the verandah outside the tent..

We spent a very pleasant time here going for game drives during the mornings and utilising the small communal swimming pool in the afternoons.

KTC is fairly close to Mata Mata where the is a petrol station ansd shop." See all these reviews: 12n in South Africa

"Comfortable well designed units"

1 night Arrived 5 Sep 2014
"Novel design for the units includes an enclosure for your vehicle. The fact your vehicle will be gated with you means there's no worry about the hazards from the wildlife if you need to get something from it after nightfall.

Rightly popular, comfortable and spacious units. Lovely outlook over the Aoub River valley and there was plenty of game there and interesting nocturnal sounds." See all these reviews: 13n in South Africa

"AMAZING experience at Kalahari Tented Camp"

4 nights Arrived 13 Jul 2013
"The tents are wonderful and the location could not be better.

It was very cold at night and in the mornings but we were prepared for that. Having hot water was a blessing. Cooking at camp was easy with the well equipped kitchen. Staff was very helpful and efficient. Seeing and hearing the animals at such close range is an experience that I will never forget." See all these reviews: 5n in South Africa
