Goshawk Fly-in Safari

Discover Namibia’s remarkable landscapes, fascinating wildlife and unique cultures on this luxury adventure flying between a selection of the very best camps and lodges in the country.

Goshawk Fly-in Safari: Summary

Goshawk Fly-in Safari in a nutshell

This is the trip for those that want experience all of Namibia’s highlights in style, taking spectacular light aircraft flights between a selection of opulent lodges and luxurious camps.

After a relaxing first night in the tiny capital, Windhoek, take your first hop east into the epic NamibRand Nature Reserve and a stay at the stunningly situated Sossusvlei Desert Lodge. As well as visiting the famous dunes nearby, venture out into the reserve on foot, vehicle or quad bike, and marvel at the night sky from the lodge’s own observatory.

Flying north, your next stop is Damaraland’s rugged mountains where you can seek out desert adapted elephant and black rhinos on game drives and walks. Further north still, following the Skeleton Coast up to the Angolan border is perhaps Africa’s remotest camp – Serra Cafema. Sat beside the Kunene River in a rare green strip of forest, this is a special place and an oasis of luxury. Explore the starkly breath-taking scenery, spot crocodiles and vibrant birdlife on the water and get a chance to meet the nomadic Himba community in a sensitive manner.

Returning south, spend two nights on the edge of Etosha’s vast salt pan in Ongava Game Reserve, venturing out into both on game drives to spot lion, zebra, giraffe, elephant and more. With luck, you may be able to track Ongava’s rhino on foot. The final stop is the fabulously chic Omaanda. There’s the chance for more safari but we prefer it as a place to rest and restore after the adventure.

Damaraland Camp

Days 4-6

Nestled in the Huab River valley, and surrounded by low hills, Damaraland Camp was one of the earliest camps in this area of Namibia, having opened around 1996. Although it has undergone a number of renovations since then, with the chalets almost doubled in size, it retains its strong community feel, and is now part owned by the local people. The camp's secluded location makes it a great base from which to explore the many attractions of this stark but richly diverse region.
