"do not miss it"
Seeing leopard and cheetah was magical." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
"Too short a stay !"
On arrival we wee upgraded to a View room which was massive and very well appointed. Indeed the view was excellent and we could watch loads of wildlife from our terrace.
The visit to the on site AfriCat Foundation Conservation Centre was a highlight.
Highly recommend overall." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
"Okonjima Plains Camp"
Restaurant meals very good and overall public area decor very clever and informative too. Our game drive activity topped it all as we were the only two with our driver/guide (Matthew) who was determined to locate the leopard, which he did and was the only one that afternoon to achieve that. We were out for probably a good hour beyond the norm and squeaked back in time for dinner, amazing.
This Camp now boasts a large pool in a landscaped area not mentioned in your itinerary. Also the photo in the itinerary does not do justice to this location." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia
"Outstanding Game Drive at Okonjima"
I had been worried that the tracking might make the drive seem artificial but it actually added to the experience. We reached a point where Daniel said Shera's cub was only about five metres away despite there being no sign - and then suddenly there it was staring straight at us. We also woke in the morning to find a family of warthogs sleeping on the verandah of our room, which was lovely.
The rooms were great, as was the food - especially some memorably good omelettes at breakfast.
We would definitely recommend Okonjima as a great stop for anyone visiting Namibia, as well as a convenient location to break up the long journey from Etosha or Damaraland to Windhoek." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana
"Great game drives and room."
Standard room had fantastic view of the bush.
I'm sure you know all about the place - but a special mention of our guide on the game drives - Daniel. Great knowledge and friendly." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia
"Not very personal, ok for a stop"
Had to walk several minutes to get to reception from my room. The view rooms do not have any views in particular but are at the edge of the forest so good for seeing wildlife. The rooms were modern and spacious, but has too much of a concrete look and feel to them.
The road going in is not good, and when there is heavy rain, you cannot cross the river to get in or out forba few hours." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 4n in Zimbabwe; 1n in South Africa
On of Expert Africa’s key tasks is to ensure that travellers' expectations are as close to the reality that they find as possible. On her return, this traveller noted that her expectations of her destinations were inappropriate and that it had been a trip that ‘she wanted to forget’.
So clearly in this case we failed. As a company we would rather not organise a trip than send someone with the wrong expectations – but that seems to have been what happened here.
"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
We were very pleasantly surprised by our room. It was only a standard room but hard to see how it could be improved. At the foot of the bed there is a large landscape window through which you can see across the bush and watch various animals wandering around.
It is in the middle of nowhere but conveniently between Etosha and Windhoek.
Breakfast was very good and dinner better than most.
We found the activities bit mixed. We went on the tour of the Africat Foundation which included a trip through the cheetah enclosure. We saw several, close up.This tour was excellent and very informative.
We also went on the leopard tour. We were a bit put off when our guide told us when we got in the truck that there was only a 50-50 chance of catching a glimpse of a leopard. He explained how solitary and reclusive they are. We had the impression beforehand, rightly or wrongly, that a sighting was pretty well guaranteed because many of the leopard are collared. As it was we didn't see one although not for the want of trying by our guide. That was obviously disappointing.
Both guides were obviously passionate about their animals." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa
"Outstanding Property!"
The leopard tracking was once again excellent, and our guide did his very best to find not only one, but two leopards for us! They upgraded our room to a view room, which was a lovely treat and the room was beautiful. Okonjima has an abundance of wildlife and we saw not only leopards, but cheetahs, kudu, mountain zebra, warthogs, jackals, oryx, elephant shrew, steenbok, and baboons.
The food in the restaurant is outstanding and the dinner service is beautifully done. I believe this is a place we will stop at again and again." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia
"The perfect place to end or start a holiday!"

The leopard tracking itself feels a little contrived if you are used to the real thing though." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
