"Okonjima Bush Suite review"
We has our own hostess, a chef, guide, housemaid and gardener. View over the bush with a little swimming pool which was surprisingly deep. Rather excessive but something we won't forget. We would probably been equally happy in the Bush Camp which looked quite adequate.
The two activities we went on were the Leopard tracking and the AfriCat experience. Both included seeing them at close quarters. literally a few yards.
We should have stayed for two nights as there were other activities that we'd have enjoyed.
The options in the table below are not adequate to grade this accommodation, superlative is more appropiate!" See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia
"Pure self-indulgent luxury!"
We had a brilliant game drive in the late afternoon where we saw a leopard with a kill in a tree. The head of the killed animal fell out of the tree and then we saw there was another leopard underneath the tree waiting to catch it!
Quite an experience!" See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
"Okonjima Plains Camp - we were upgraded here"
The suite was amazing but we were not really there long enough to enjoy it. The rooms opened up completely and this meant wonderful views of many more animals than listed below. The only problem with it was that we had to drive between the main lodge and the suite, which was a disadvantage after a safari and supper when we were tired. It meant we didn't freshen up after the Safari before coming in to the dining room to eat. At least two nights should be booked at this location whether you are in the Plains Camp or the Bush Camp to appreciate it and the work of the Africat Foundation." "Cheetah encounter at Okonjima"
The staff are equally outstanding, Mike our expert guide is very knowledgable about the wildlife and the Okonjima ethos and was a brilliant cheetah tracker. The housekeeper Claudia(? spelling) is very attentive, friendly and professional and attended to our every need and the lovely chef Emily provided us with the best meals we had in Namibia.
One day we went Cheetah tracking with Mike, when we knew we were close to one we left the vehicle and continued on foot along a track, on rounding a bend we came across the Cheetah which was guarding a kill it had just made, a small Springbok, When it saw us it got up and walked slowly towards us with it's hackles raised and came to within 6 feet, Mike told us to stay still and not move when every instinct was telling us to turn and run!!.
Mike assured us later than we were in no real danger but it was very exciting in bowel moving kind of way.
At other times we also came close to Leopards and a spotted Hyena - an evil looking creature.
All we can say is thanks to everyone at Okonjima for a fantastic experience and keep up the good work" See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia
"Lovely accommodation at Okonjima Bush Suite"
"Okonjima Bush Suite review"
Okonjima has a private reserve with Leopard and Cheetahs with collars, so it was easier to trek them. We saw Leopard almost killing a warthog, and many many cheetahs, and many more animals.
Our guide Martin was a very good guide, too. The Suite was so nice that we wanted to just spend more time than going out to see animals." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia
