"Space, Scenery and Peace"
Accommodation is in solid igloo-shaped rooms, all with terraces enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding plains, dunes and mountains. Most are semi-detached though we had a suite, number 19, which was detached and very spacious with every facility. I believe the tariff is only available on a bed and breakfast basis with the restaurant operating as a la carte for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a good buffet with eggs cooked to order. The dinner choices we made were disappointing. We enjoyed our stay at the (Namibian) Ritz." See all these reviews: 21n in Namibia
"Heavenly Rostock Ritz"
My husband describes this lodge as paradise on earth and for once I wouldn't disagree with him.
Following a swim in the pool, I spent a lazy afternoon in a hammock looking at the fabulous view.
The rescued meerkats that live here were fun to watch with their almost human mannerisms.
Great to dine in a restaurant where you have a good choice of dishes after several days of set menus consisting of grilled springbok, kudu, etc.
Good to see owner of lodge mixing with the guests and pleasant to have the staff come and chat to you in the evening after dinner.
The lodge is ideally placed for breaking up a trip between Sossusvlei and the coast but please stay longer than the one night. This lodge is definitely on the list for our next visit.
Our only suggestion for improvement would be to have tea/coffee facilities in the room." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 9n in South Africa
"Rostock Ritz"
One night is enough. There is not a lot to do. Rooms are quite small and dark." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

The dining and bar areas looked very good and the food was excellent. Staff were very helpful. The tame (but fairly vicious) Zebra and the Meerkat rehabilitation area were pleasant bonuses.
A dawn walk along one of their trails led to the plains below the lodge where a large herd of Zebra were feeding." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

They have developed independent walking routes from the lodge which were well signposted and we took advantage of three of these. There is a large enclosure that has been developed for meerkats that have been 'rescued' from their owners who no longer want them and this was a good opportunity to see them close up and to observe the daily feeding." "Meerkats at Rostock Ritz"
The delight here though are the Meerkats and if you were not lucky enough to see them in the wild then you can see them here. They run a rehabilitation unit rescuing Meerkats that have outgrown their owners since the locals like to keep them as pets. There were four here on our visit and equally as charming as we have seen on our television screens. Perhaps all the others are selling insurance in the UK!
A brisk morning walk just after sun rise brought us to a herd of very timid Hartmann's mountain zebra. All in all a grate stop over." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia
"Rostock Ritz review"
The accommodation itself was unique - spacious and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and it was clearly very popular with Namibians. It's run by Kucki and his family, whose pub in Swakopmund is now such an institution, and as he walks the floor attentively and keeps the staff busy, it's clear why that place became such a success.
The meerkat rehab area was unmissable for our 5 year old. We also had a very enjoyable dawn walk in the hills to see the mountain zebra." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
