"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 24 Jul 2024
"We loved Hoodia Desert Lodge and would happily have stayed here longer.

A beautiful setting with the best dark skies for Milky way photography that we found in the whole of our trip. We were in rooms 1 and 2 which meant we were furthest from the light from the main lodge.

The lodge has a smart but cosy feel to it, lots of nice sitting areas both inside and out. The food was very good with not too large portions but no choice of main course (beef or game during our stay), I assume vegetarian options were also available." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 10 Jul 2024
"We received a warm welcome from one of the owners and a personal orientation to Hoodia and our time there.

We enjoyed our well appointed room and the views. We also found the meals to be excellent. They create a lovely ambiance with the fireplace and the other areas to sit and relax.

Our day excursion was outstanding as was our guide Petrus. He was incredibly knowledgeable (there wasn't a question he didn't have a sound answer for), thoughtful and an enjoyable person to spend the day with.

It was magical how he created a special bush lunch for us in the middle of the desert.

In the end, it wasn't an issue to stay a short drive from the park entrance. Actually, arriving at the dunes slightly later provided us with the opportunity to enjoy them without a crush of other tourists." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia

2 nights Arrived 2 Jul 2024
"Loved our 2 nights at Hoodia!

The staff were amazing - shoutout to Lukas our guide to Sossusvlei - he went the extra mile every chance he could!

The facilities were amazing and the main lodge area superb!

The room layout could have been slight better and the food was not as good as Kalahari Red Dunes but we would stay here again!

Loved the outdoor shower and the pool was cold but lovely to use!

Where Hoodia shines it the tour to Sossusvlei and the FANTASTIC lunch table under the dunes!" See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia

"A good base for Sossusvlei excursion.

Restaurant and restaurant staff were outstanding but accommodation less private than other lodges.

Less wildlife in the lodge surroundings than other lodges too." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia

"Hoodia Ultimate Desert Lodge Experience"

3 nights Arrived 5 Jun 2024
"We booked 3 nights and two of the only 11 tented chalets for us 4 and did enjoy every single minute of our stay at Hoodia.

The owners Henreza & Thomas with their dedicated team and attention to details have created the ultimate desert lodge experience. Special mention to the food. Under the professional & expert direction of our guide Paulus, we enjoyed the sundowner with campfire on the nearby hill and learnt a lot about the desert ecosystem during the excursion to the dunes, petrified forest and Sesriem Canyon.

Instead of staying inside the park or closer to the park, it is definitely worth the money and the about 30’ to 45’ max additional driving distance to the park entrance. You get so much more privacy, quality service, luxury and attention." See all these reviews: 21n in Namibia

"Tip top"

2 nights Arrived 20 May 2024
"High Class Resort run very efficiently with an emphasis on quality, but the service is very friendly.

Day trip to the dunes was excellent. Knowledgeable guide and well organised. Parking right outside individual chalets which was helpful.

Chalets really well planned and well appointed as you would expect. Food absolutely top notch.

A couple of minor points (really down to our own preferences rather than any lack of quality). We did not particularly like the choice of background music and we prefer a more sociable sundowner rather than one geared up to honeymoon couples." See all these reviews: 26n in Namibia

"Hoodia Desert Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 11 May 2024
"It was a very long drive to Hoodia Desert Lodge from Windhoek over rough gravel roads (our first experience of them - we did get more used to them as the trip progressed), over the Spreetshoogte Pass and through Solitaire so we were very glad to arrive.

The lodge was lovely and our room very comfortable. We were able to park the vehicle right outside the chalet so luggage was no problem. The room had a lovely view of the desert/hills from the bedroom, the outside bathroom and the terrace outside which had chairs and a table. The inside bathroom was comfortable too with double basins and lovely showers both inside and outside.

We used the small pool to relax before we went on our sundowner experience which was arguably the nicest sundowner of our whole trip. We were taken, along with a few other couples, to the far side of a small west facing hillock which felt very isolated but was actually not far so very safe. Tables had already been set up well away from each other with plenty of drinks and lovely snacks. Candles and lamps were provided but I don't think anyone lit them because once the spectacular sunset was over, the view of the milky way with no light pollution was amazing.

Meals were very good and taken at individual tables. Choices included game some nights.

As we were doing the balloon trip on our last morning, we had to check out the night before, pack everything into the vehicle in the morning and move it to the general parking area before we were picked up at 05:45. When we got back, we were able to use the facilities in the main area to change and refresh ourselves before we set off for Swakopmund."
