My Namibia August 2024 trip

"We enjoyed a superb family holiday in Namibia.
Self-driving was easier than we expected and the views were stunning - the drive over Spreetshoogte Pass our favourite. Although the drives were long the scenery was rarely less than spectacular and there were numerous wildlife sightings along the way. The short flights from Doro Nawas to Hoanib and from the coast back to Hoanib offered wonderful views too.
We felt that we spent the right amount of time in each place and the itinerary that Claire had put together allowed us to see the highlights of the country."

"A lovely welcome at Cornerstone Guesthouse. The location is good and an easy walk to all the restaurants and shops.
The breakfast was adequate but did not get refreshed.
The rooms are comfortable but there was some mould in the bathroom.
The room had no blackout blinds so light from the streets and in the morning poured through the window into the bedroom."

"Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is a luxurious camp in a fabulous unspoilt setting. Our stay in this camp was the highlight of our trip.
The staff were attentive and William was a fantastic guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our nature drives, walks and the trip to the coast. We were surprised by the density of animals and the number of wildlife spotting opportunities in such a harsh environment.
We saw lions on a giraffe kill and elephants at the waterhole in the camp but unfortunately no sightings of the brown hyena."

"The Etosha Heights Private Reserve is a fantastic place for nature drives. We were excited to see black and white rhino and several lion sightings.
The standard of housekeeping, the level of service and the food at Etosha Mountain Lodge were all inconsistent and not to the standard of any of the other lodges we stayed at during our trip.
The lodge is in a stunning setting with fabulous views from the rooms."

Fantastic setting on the edge of the Kalahari Desert. We enjoyed walking and running on the marked trails, playing badminton and the archery. We were not expecting the variety of wildlife in the land surrounding the property (oryx, kudu, roan antelope, steenbok).
The food was delicious. Rooms are comfortable rather than luxurious. We were due to stay one night but were glad that due to flight availability we ended up with two nights at Eningu Clayhouse."
