"sister to grootberg lodge and similar experience - this was a bit more polished, but also slightly less charming - if you do not ride , then you get less attention from management. villa very good and communal areas and food excellent.

received good advice on making our own trip .

"Although some of the staff were rather indifferent, the service on the whole here was good and the rooms were very comfortable. Didn't have time to go on any of the outings but did enjoy the swimming pool in the very hot weather." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia

"Lovely setting at Desert Homestead"

2 nights Arrived 17 Sep 2007
"We loved this place. The staff were fantastic and in particular Colin the manager was exceptionly helpful and had a great sense of humour. This place is very relaxing and in a beautiful setting.

The only one downside to the accomodation was that there were no powerpoints in our chalet/hut. (How can a girl do her hair?) Not the end of the world though and we would certainly go back again." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Relaxed base to visit Sossuvlei"

2 nights Arrived 3 Sep 2007
"Excellent welcome after long drive from Windhoek. Charming accommodation (spacious and stylish walk in shower room) in thatched rondavel, well spaced from its neighbours and with views over grassland to the horizon. Friendly and flexible service from all staff.

Excellent food and non menu items made to order (although I did have to explain to the cook how to make eggy toast!) Went horseriding at sundown and met my non-riding husband for drinks in glorious setting. Everyone seemed genuinely keen to ensure that we enjoyed your stay." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia

"A stunning location"

2 nights Arrived 14 Aug 2007
"The new 'Homestead' is located in a fantastic location. The accommodation places you right in the landscape. The facilities are excellent, though you need the blankets to keep out the late winter chill on windy nights.

The guided trip to the desert seemed a little expensive prior to departure but turned out to be excellent value for money, expectations were greatly exceeded.

Our guide was charming, informative and very relaxed enabling the day to unfold without the need to stick to a strict programme.

The duration of the trip seemed to be as long as we were happy to be out." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Super starry sky"

2 nights Arrived 14 Aug 2007
"Very helpful and considerate staff. Good packed breakfast for Sossusvlei trip.

Unfortunately, there seemed to be a problem in the kitchen one evening, and as a result the meal was undercooked, which was disappointing as the other meals were fine. However, we were not the only ones to mention this, and the staff were most concerned and apologetic. An allowance was made for this when we settled out bill on leaving."
