"Bulls port"
We did the quiver tree gorge walk which was demanding but good. Pretty exhausted at the end." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Family Run & Friendly"
It is family owned and run and we thought perhaps we would be dining with the family rather than other guests, who were all speaking German so we didn't understand much of the conversation at the table - time for us to start learning another language i think! But there was a young guy who worked there who sat at our table and did some translating for us, which was very nice of him.
The best parts were the location (Naukluft Mountains) - the gorge walk was amazing and our guide very informative, he was clearly very enthusiastic about the location and the nature and was happy to stop for pictures and explain bits about the area and wildlife. He could spot an eagle's nest from a mile off!
Another plus is the impact it had on us, it has stuck with me since because it felt like we had stepped back in time, not necessarily a good thing in itself but something fascinating to witness, the colonial past that you might think is confined to history is still very present here." "we found it a good over night stop"
"Great hospitality at a working farm"
All the comfort of the luxury lodges but with a much more interesting atmosphere due to the nature of the establishment as a commercial farm. Joanna and Ernst are fine and entertaining hosts (as are the young interns from Germany who they are supporting).
Our guide David on a couple of activities was brilliant and made sure we got the most out of some fabulous drives and walks." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia
"A good 1-night stop"
Communal eating was fun and we made friends.... but it has the potential to become a bit awkward!" See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia
"Bullsport - Great Mountain Visit"
Although the owners were away, we were well looked after by Jonathan and shown around our nice (luxury) rooms. We arrived in time to go on one of the many marked walks which was good, although we didn't see that much 'wildlife' apart from birds.
The evening meal was around the table with our hosts and other guests which made for an interesting evening. We were able to have a good chat and get a good understanding of what it was like to run a farm in Namibia, and the challenges of farming in a very arid climate with erratic rainfall.
The next day we opted to go on the Quiver Tree Trail trip. After breakfast we boarded the truck and headed off on a 2hr drive up the mountains with regular stops to look at animals and the views. Our guide was amazing at being able to spot animals in the distance. We then got off the vehicle and walked down into a gorge. The transition was amazing. You go from a parched arid landscape into another world with water flowing down the gorge via beautiful pools, massive fig trees, lots of different birds and many spectacular Quiver trees. It is an easy well marked track, but there are diversions with more challenging sections for those that want, which me and the boys did. We were met at the bottom by the vehicle for the short drive back to the farm. We would highly recommend this trip." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Bullsport Farm"
Completing our own walks on the property with maps provided was also a real chance to get out into the landscape.
It was cold, even colder than expected and later locations put hot water bottles in the beds- this would have been a good addition here." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Like staying with friends"
For me the highlight of our very brief one night stay here was the family style dinner, and not because it was a delicious home made meal, but rather because we got to spend a few hours having a conversation in fascinating company. I loved that Ernst and Johanna don't shy away from potentially polarizing topics, and are happy to share their opinions and stories with their guests. It was an enlightening and wholly refreshing experience, and we remain grateful for their hospitality.
We didn't have time to do the Quivertree gorge hike, but we did do an evening game drive through the farm, and a morning horseback ride, on both of which we were treated to spectacular scenery, and a wealth of information about farming in Namibia. Our room was fantastic - large and beautifully appointed. I do wish there was a heater that didn't involve an open flame, as it got really cold at night.
A really great option, especially for anyone interested in getting more under the skin, and learning from the locals." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia
"Comfortable and interesting stay at Bullsport"
Accommodation is generous, well equipped. Food good home cooking (although the chef had some difficulty in comprehending precise dietary requirements but Johanna was prompt in remedying this).
Our hosts Ernst, Johanna, their managers and staff were welcoming and informative about the farm and the area." See all these reviews: 28n in Namibia; 5n in South Africa
"Bullsport Guest Farm review"
The highlight was a hike down the Quiver Tree gorge. It was the only place we could really hike in all of our travels. Other places had guided walks instead." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana; 3n in Zimbabwe
