"Fortress on the hill"
The first meal was the 'bush-dinner' involving a walk out to a hidden area lit with dozens of candles and a couple of flaming fire pits (very welcome as it was cold)!! Singing and dancing by the team was most enjoyable. Then back to find we had hot-water bottles in our beds!!
Elephant Safari - the desert elephants were fantastic. Having the time to watch them roaming along the valley and eating Acacia was brilliant. For huge animals they can be very delicate. Coffee and cookies was very welcome. Bernard told us about the dangers of Euphorbia and showed us how to make a whistle from the Mopane leaf. Giraffe and Ostrich also spotted.

Staff very welcoming, amazing location and incredible attention to detail.
If I had to make a comment at all it would be to offer robes in the rooms but a very minor point in comparison to all the other amazing features and superb cuisine." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Excellent elephant tracking at Doro Nawas"
The rooms were excellent but apart from the afternoon of our arrival we had no hot water. As the nights were so cold a hot shower in the morning would have been nice. The swimming pool here was good - laps (well, mini-laps) were possible.
The communal areas were good, the staff were all very pleasant and helpful, but the food was poor both evenings - it was buffet style, as was the breakfast. On our second morning we ate breakfast at 8 AM and there was hardly any choice - most guests had eaten earlier and the food had not been replenished" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe

Staff gathered to sing to us at arrival, dinner, and upon leaving.

"Great singing"
The staff greeted us with a song then sang several songs for everyone after dinner. I am not given to organized fun, but their three part harmony was excellent. They had obviously practiced a lot and seemed to enjoy giving the performance." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia
"Great stay at Doro Nawas"
Best singers on our trip and it was lovely to hear the local click dialect. Bush dinner was a great experience though the cuts of meat were not as lean as we expected. Having said that, lunch at the lodge was the best we had on the entire trip.
