"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 6 Jul 2013
"This was the best place we stayed in Namibia and we could happily have stayed for a few weeks! We were put in the 'honeymoon' chalet (? number 6). Each chalet has a lovely room plus semi-outdoor bathroom, plus we noticed there was an outdoor bath and bed for the summer! The chalets were very well spaced and felt extremely private. Ours had a lovely outdoor terrace and views in all directions - beautiful sunset and amazing star-gazing opportunities.

The staff were all extremely welcoming and attentive. The food was absolutely excellent. What a wonderful location, the birdlife was fabulous and we saw several animals from the main dining area, including a porcupine only a few yards away while we sat eating our dinner. The main dining area was lovely - with a big central fireplace and open windows. Good swimming pool and sun-deck area.

We went on a guided walk which was very good, and also for a sundowner on the kopje opposite.

An incredible end to a wonderful honeymoon in Namibia." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 5 Jul 2013
"Paradise! Spectacular setting, caring friendly staff, welcoming drinks, gratis afternoon teas +cake. Excellent food served by a very dear Waiter called Timo. This was our favourite Lodge on tour.

At Breakfast the birds are fed outside the open windows which is an excellent photo opportunity! In the evening a Porcupine and a Genet came for kitchen scraps. Very exciting!

So glad we stayed for 2 nights. Next time we will stay for more! We did some of our own bird-walks, but Johnny (ranger employed by the Lodge) was keen to show us other places in the early morning walks and afternoon if he is free. We felt tips were the norm after these walks, however no problem as we felt like giving them anyway!

There is always one catch in every paradise, here some of the rooms are quite a walk away (along an undulating boardwalk) from the dining room, which itself is up many steps. So remember everything you want first time.

The tented chalets are first rate (just renewed this year) very tastefully & fully equipped with fans but often the breeze is sufficient. There is a tea & coffee tray, fridges in rooms too with minibar. There are daybeds out of doors in each tented chalet and great views. The Rock Hyrax (dassies) make blood-curdling noises first and last thing...the shower room is built into the rocks, so you can see them from the shower." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge"

1 night Arrived 4 Jul 2013
"We spent the last night of our trip at Erongo Wilderness Lodge, and what a way to end things. The camp is beautiful, nestled as it is amongst the rocky hills, and the sundowner hike was a beautiful way to toast the end of our journey. The owners were present during our stay and could not have been more lovely. And it was an easy 4 hour drive to the airport, almost all on tarred roads. We would definitely recommend Erongo as alternative to ending the trip with a night in Windhoek.

One comment: The Lodge could use better sign-posting and maps for its self-guided walks. We missed the trailhead for our hike on the first attempt (although we had a lovely walk nonetheless)." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia

3 nights Arrived 28 Jun 2013
"All the staff were helpful and it was some of the best food we had whilst in Namibia. Good toe Roger the owner standing in as a manager.

We went on one guided walk which we enjoyed and it was tailored to suit our ability. We attempted a walk on our own but the terrain was difficult and it was too hot." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"A hiker's paradise"

2 nights Arrived 10 May 2013
"This beautiful spot is a place for hikers. There are many marked trails, but most people seem to go only on the guided hikes.

Again, we found the staff delightful, and I started wondering if we were ever going to meet a crabby Namibian. The views from the rooms are stunning.

The Erongo Wilderness area is quite special." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness lodge was very relaxing"

3 nights Arrived 27 Apr 2013
"Although we had been to Namibia previously Erongo is a very easy and relaxed introduction to Namibia for any one new to the country and a good place to start our holiday after a day of travelling. It was just about driveable after arriving at Windhoek Airport in the early afternoon.

Accommodation and food were excellent and the presence of several local guests confirms its popularity with residents of Namibia." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia; 5n in Zambia; 1n in South Africa

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 3 Feb 2013
"We enjoyed our last night at Erongo before returning to Windhoek.

The food was excellent with a good choice available. Of all the lodges visited, they were the most relaxed about meal times.
We had a very good walk the following morning with a knowledgable guide.

We wondered what the bathroom facilities would be like in inclement weather as the loo paper was apt to blow away!" See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia
