"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Sep 2013
"At first sight, the lodge seemed a little bit, well, underwhelming, but after we'd settled into our tent by the river, we found it a most friendly and comfortable place to stay. Johann was a mine of information; we enjoyed the river cruise - v good value. Bird life on the river was fascinating - not to mention the crocs, and the hippo who came out of the river to graze at dinnertime.

Lovely to sit outside our tent and just watch the river." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia

"Rural Riverside Lodge"

2 nights Arrived 12 Sep 2013
"Maybe a little tired round the edges, but the tents were clean and comfy,
Lovely riverside lodge, great atmosphere, relaxed. Love the pottery used at mealtimes.
Guests and management dine together which gives insightful conversation into local issues. Felt like one big family.
River trip good. Guide knows his birds and was extremely patient when pointing out his finds.
Close to the National Park - good stay." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Hippo, otters and fish eagles"

3 nights Arrived 4 Sep 2013
"one of our favourite places and we were not disappointed

Fantastic noises in the night - we felt we were on a film set - good game drive into the park and boatrides down the river with knowledgable guides - a wonderful experience - we could have stayed longer.

Nothing was too much trouble - when the local garage had no petrol they managed to go and get us some the next day saving us a long bumpy ride

An amazing place - we would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing stay - a day relaxing on the dack watching a fish eagle hunt is a memory for a cold winter day back home- just wish the pottery wasn't so expensive now." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 5n in Botswana

"Excellent location on the banks of the river. We really enjoyed our stay here although the accommodation was a little more basic.

We were able to drive into Mahango park ourselves and also as an organised activity." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Great location, staff and wildlife!"

3 nights Arrived 26 Aug 2013
"Superb. Amazing viewings over the river the deck. The 'posh tents' were fun to staying and it was good fun hearing the hippos and elephants crashing around and shouting during the night. The staff were really friendly and enthusiastic about the wildlife too. Being so close to the park, it was easy to do your own drives whenever you wanted. A great place to stay!" "Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 22 Aug 2013
"Ndovu is not to be missed. We loved it here and could happily have spent longer. Staff are friendly and attentive without overdoing it. Activities are offered but not thrust upon you. Michael our guide was excellent and if you enjoy birds - do not miss the sundowner boat cruise. Also spending an afternoon just lounging on the deck looking out over the river was great. You can also drive yourself through Mahango national Park and see plenty.

We arrived to a hippo wandering about camp which was quite exciting - don't let that put you off though, the staff will ensure you are safe and they saw us back safely to our tent in the dark.

Tented accommodation is clean and comfortable with lovely coffee making facilities. Perhaps a little snug with 4 beds in 1 tent.

Our only other construcitve suggestion would be locks on the doors or a safe in the room as our British mentality makes us wary of leaving passports and camera equipment unlocked" See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 7 Aug 2013
"The host, Horst makes this camp so special. On approaching the lodge you pass though a village where there is a lot of litter and then you see the faded sign for the camp and I must admit I had some trepidation upon reaching the gates as to what we would find. However

The reference books are useful for adults, but a small box with some childrens books or toys eg snakes and ladders would go a long way to improve the experience for them. Horst did kindly tie up one of the launches so the girls could do some pretend play.

The park which is very near the lodge was better in my view than Chobe from a drive and viewing perspective - really personal.

Mosquito spray killer as standard in the rooms would have been good, we asked for some and it was provided but upon entering the tent it was teeming with mossies." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 2n in Botswana

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 26 Jul 2013
"Simple but friendly tent camp right on the Okavango river at the beginning of the delta. Great nature sounds: hippos, elephants and birds. This place has the atmosphere of a typical owner-run camp, with communal dining and good talks among guests.

Good sunset boat trip among hippos and easy 15 minute drive to nearby Mahango NP.

I wish I had taken my camera to bed with me, which I use to record video and sounds. The morning and evening sounds while lying in the tent are extraordinary!

Bring ear plugs, but value these sounds. We did not hear them like this again on our trip. It was too cold and I was too lazy to get up for my sound recording!

Wonderful, varied conversation around table and on deck morning and evening. Tent 9.

Driving into the camp on the dirt road, the village, villagers, kids playing, families collecting water, the churches ... morning views from the tent of the elephants across the channel and peaks at the hippos and the crocs.

Jost, Monica and Johannes were very active with the guests." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 3n in Zimbabwe

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 20 Jul 2013
"We stopped here over night between Mahango park (which was worth the visit) and heading into the Caprivi strip.

The camp is in a nice location. We watched elephants crossing the river and saw buffalo on the other bank, as well as a variety of birds around the camp.

The tents and toilet blocks are fairly basic, and whist having a separate toilet area is not ideal in the winter it does have its advantages!

The central lounge and dining area is spacious, well stocked with books and relevant literature and the stand in management very well informed.

The food was good." See all these reviews: 8n in Botswana; 3n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Ndhovu Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 7 Apr 2013
"We enjoyed this Lodge. But I can see that not everyone might. It is "old fashioned" in a "Out of Africa " sort of way. For us it was really memorable. The lodge is cut of for months by the rising river, and you are poled out to it in a punt. You then are really cut off from the world, but can sit on the verandah with access to wifi

You eat at one big table, with the manager and his wife as hosts. With the small numbers they deal with, this worked well

And..a hippo came in after dark each night and drank from their swimming pool. Both game trips were good" See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia; 1n in Zambia
