"Palacina review - a Naoribi oasis"

1 night Arrived 13 Aug 2023
"We spent a night at the Palacina waiting for our departure flight the next evening at the end of a long Safari holiday.

This is a very comfortable property with a lovely restaurant attached. The dinner here was a treat, and the property location gave easy access to the Karen district and related points of interest like the Giraffe center, etc.

Note that the rooms here are very large and finely appointed, so you'll be comfortable during your city stay. It reminded us more of a London stay in Mayfair at someone's flat than a traditional hotel, but for most travelers that isn't a bad thing. And the staff are very helpful with managing bags and making sure the stay is a good one." See all these reviews: 8n in Tanzania; 8n in Kenya; 3n in Zanzibar

"Good hotel worth a longer stay"

1 night Arrived 14 Dec 2008
"We were not there long enough to comment on e.g. the food (breakfast) but the hotel and rooms are very good. To get real value from staying at Palacina you would want to be spending a few days in Nairobi and not just wanting to use it as a bed for a night. As a transit hotel there may be better options closer to/at JK International.

We stayed at Palacina twice and on both occassions had problems trying to settle our bill early in the morning using VISA. Nothing wrong with our cards but there appears to be an issue with their processing capability. On the second occassion we had to cobble together all our loose change to pay the bill otherwise we would have missed our flight." See all these reviews: 14n in Malawi; 2n in Kenya

"A miniature palace!"

1 night Arrived 3 Aug 2008
"We had an amazing penthouse suite with kitchen, lounge, 2 bathrooms, bedroom and walk in wardrobe. Unfortunately, we arrived at 10:30 p.m. and departed at 5:00 a.m. the next day. We therefore only saw the place in the dark and had no meals during our brief overnight stop.
It seemed like a truly excellent place but, to be honest, it was really over-the-top and somewhat wasted as an overnight stopover. In our particular situation, one of the international hotels we passed enroute from the airport would have served as just as well if not better.

Would be good if Expert Africa had more options in the Nairobi area." See all these reviews: 5n in Rwanda; 1n in Kenya
