"Amazing place, service and experience"
That said, if you can stay at Naboisho Camp, I'd highly recommend it. The guides, camp managers and other staff went out of their way to make guests comfortable at every turn. I was a little nervous about being a solo traveler, but I immediately felt included and at home due to the warm welcome of Richard, Andrea and the other staff, who actively fostered a sense of community in the small camp.
Naboisho Camp is part of the Asilia Africa lodge group, which actively promotes sustainability and community engagement. They've won several eco/community awards, and I was so impressed by their approach to land, community and guests that if I return, I will stay at one of their other properties throughout Kenya and Tanzania.
Highlights of the visit included two less common opportunities to experience the savannah outside the walls of a truck. Both a walking safari with one of Naboisho's specially trained walking guides and an afternoon horseback riding with Ride Mara were excellent. Other amazing moments included seeing a leopard and both a cheetah and lions with cubs. I also got lucky to be there when one of the scientists from the Kenya Wildlife Trust came to share a presentation on big predator conservation efforts in and around the reserve. I really enjoyed the additional perspective he gave on conservation challenges and opportunities. It definitely something most tourists would not get to learn about or appreciate.
The rooms, service and food were some of the highest quality that I've experienced anywhere. The fact that it was delivered in the bush made it all the more impressive. I am also a gluten free eater, and the camp chef made me gluten free breads and desserts or other equivalents at every meal." See all these reviews: 3n in Kenya

"A perfect ending"
We really enjoyed our guide Benjamin. We were also able to experience visiting a school and the Maa Trust.
The food and the service were impeccable. The staff were wonderful and accommodated our needs above and beyond our expectations.
Our room/tent was comfortable and spacious. We enjoyed the fact that we were so close to the wildlife." See all these reviews: 13n in Kenya
"Outstanding bush camp"
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Sammy, a top class guide and driver.
Day trip to Masai Mara national park an unforgettable experience. Saw ten cheetahs, including the 'five musketeers' and Malaika with two mature cubs making a kill. Bird life prolific.
The cultural visit to a local village turned out to be a visit to a homestead which was interesting in itself but it was not at all clear how the family had benefited or would benefit from the payments.. There needs to be more information and clarification about this activity." See all these reviews: 8n in Kenya; 4n in Zanzibar
"Excellent safari at Naboisho"
Choice of indoor shower or outdoor bucket shower.
First time we have had a female guide Evelyn, who was very knowledgeable and a competent driver with a fascinating life story." See all these reviews: 16n in Kenya
"Perhaps not as good as they think they are?"
Facing a plain with plenty of mammals, the camp is set in a pretty but not spectacular position. The general areas are lovely and the tent also very comfortable and large. The beds were delightful as I soon found out as I'd picked up a stomach bug so got into bed for the first 36 hours with a couple of hot water bottles!
As with Rekero, breakfast was taken out on the drive where our guide found a pretty and comfortable spot to sit. Lunch was buffet style and dinner was a choice of two mains and served plated.
The staff were pleasant but the main issue was that most staff were geared to dealing with a large party of journalists so we very much felt a them/us situation as it was just two of us who weren't part of the group.
We were disappointed that nobody from management could be bothered to say goodbye to us on our last morning as we left camp yet at Rekero we had a send-off from three members of staff at 4.15am. Maybe our money wasn't as good as a repeat, large group ...?" See all these reviews: 17n in Kenya
"Fantastic few days at Naibosho"
We had a huge rain storm while we were there which turned the whole area green in a matter of days. It was an amazing transformation. The volume of wildlife both in the Naibosho Conservancy and in the Mara itself was amazing. Unfortunately we didn't get to see a crossing but it is the luck of the draw.
The tents, accommodation, food and service at the camp were all excellent.
We would highly recommend Naibosho but would also recommend combining it with a few days in the Mara National Park itself." See all these reviews: 7n in Kenya
"Safari at Naboisho Camp"
I requested the same guide, Benjamin K. I had before as we had become friends. Ben was my guide again and he is the excellent, making sure I saw what I wanted and much more.
If I can I will return here again. All those who work there were great." See all these reviews: 7n in Kenya
"Naboisho Camp review"
"Naboisho Camp review"
My first time on safari, so I don't have any direct comparisons, but it was all well beyond my expectations. I was fortunate to have convivial fellow travellers so that the whole ambience of the camp was more like a house party than anything else.
Well hosted, well guided, excellent service, excellent food. I would have been happy to stay indefinitely !
A very relaxing experience in a very exciting environment." See all these reviews: 5n in Rwanda; 5n in Kenya
"A lovely end to our holiday"
Roelof and Helen were charming and attentive hosts - one of them always there to greet us and hear about what we had been doing. Moses the manager was always on hand and absolutely brilliant, nothing was ever too much trouble, all our wants and needs carefully attended to by him, including wake-up calls with coffee in the morning, confirming flights and checking us in on the International flight and booking a restaurant for us in Nairobi. One of them always joined us for meals which were quite lively. The humour of the waiting staff was delightful.
We had a fantastic three hour walk with Roelof who, again knew exactly where to find everything and where to position us for the best light for photographs. The walk was incredibly informative and fascinating. One of the highlights of our stay here.
The lodge was lovely and we could watch the animals grazing in the distance (and hear lions roaring at night).
On our last morning we had a lovely breakfast in the camp (our first as the rest were on drives) with Helen, Roelof and two of their friends who were visiting. they gave us a great sendoff and we were sad to leave." See all these reviews: 12n in Kenya
