"Karen Blixen Camp review"
Camp had a sociable atmosphere in the bar and dining area." See all these reviews: 9n in Kenya
"Such lovely people!"
The food was truly excellent. We appreciated the individual dining arrangement. This set up allowed us to enjoy leisurely meals in our own time. The inclusive drinks package was very welcome.
The pool area was particularly relaxing between game drives.
Our safari guide, Dominic, was extremely knowledgable. We learnt a lot from him about wildlife and Kenyan life in general. It is a pity that the cheetahs and leopards remained elusive. However, the lion sightings were very good. The landscape in the conservancy was breathtaking.
We would not hesitate to highly recommend this camp!" See all these reviews: 6n in Kenya
"This was a disappointment"
I arrived and was called Eva, this is the Name of my Mother and I'm Sure, that Lindsey from expertafrica told you, that my Name is Jana, it was working at the other 3 destinations. There is no showergel and bodylotion in the tents. It is unusually that you take the same cutlery for the starter and the main menue, sometimes you get the Drinks with icecubes and Lemon, sometimes not. You have to subscripe for your Drinks- do you not Trust your Staff? The stones at the pool are partially broken and inside it is very slippery because of not cleaning. It is in this category inacceptable to lie on your knees 4 times a day to open or close your tent. On my last evening diner, the steak should be medium and it was more than well done, the cheese war partially frozen. The salad is every day the same. The Coffee is inedible, thats why most of the guests drinking tea. If I would think more about, I'm sure, I would find more things, they are not good enough for taking so much money from the guests. I hope you all will grow with this critic.
It was not worth the money and Tortilis Camp was much better but cheaper I think.
The owner is a danish person and he make a lot for the community but the first days there were a lot of students for sterilize the dogs in the community but for the other guests it was a feeling like being in a hostel in Berlin. The waiter werent attentively and a lot of other thinks.
I shared a car with a couple from denmark.
I would not recommended this camp." See all these reviews: 9n in Kenya
"Wonderful Experience In Every Way!"
Our guide was excellent and extremely knowledgable. We saw an unbelievable assortment of animals and birds, and at least in the Mara North conservancy we were almost always alone or with 1 or 2 other vehicles even when we were with big cats. We also went to the reserve and saw the crossing which was, of course, incredible (and brutal), but the shear number of vehicles jockeying for position was a bit depressing.
The staff at Karen Blixen really went the extra mile to make our stay wonderful and memorable. We celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary (we were married in Kenya) at Karen Blixen and the staff, without our asking, arranged a private dinner with champagne and even baked us a small anniversary cake which was presented by the entire staff with a song. It was beautiful and genuine and meant a lot to us all.
On our last day and after our last game drive (we had an afternoon flight to Nairobi) the staff at Karen Blixen discovered that a black rhino was nearby, which is a very rare occurrence. They promptly rounded up everyone who was in camp for an impromptu game drive to see the rhino, thus ensuring that we were able to see the "big five."" See all these reviews: 7n in Kenya
