"Wild dog chase a high spot!"

2 nights Arrived 2 Sep 2016
"Tena Tena a very good complement in the South Luangwa national park to Tafika. The drive there from Tafika was itself a great game drive.

The staff/guest ratio is anyway lower and was exacerbated by absences and guest transfers. After initially saying we would have to forego our planned walk and go on a mass drive, Nyambe took our concern on board and re-made the arrangements so we could go with him on a walk, which turned out to be great. A good response once he saw our reaction.

Lots of wildlife. High point was watching sleeping wild dogs, then waking, bonding, walking out line abreast and chasing after puku with us following at speed. A parade of lions at night another high spot." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"The peace of Tena Tena"

4 nights Arrived 16 Aug 2016
"Our first visit to this Camp although had visited the previous one twice.

A thoroughly enjoyable 4 nights. Lots of good game viewing with good Wild Dog sightings but it was a shame the lions had decided to go on holiday but for 4 sub adults.

As always with Robin Pope safaris food, hospitality and guiding first class." See all these reviews: 15n in Zambia

"Excellent game viewing and guiding"

3 nights Arrived 13 Aug 2016
"Tena Tena was the first camp on our first ever safari and I couldn't have asked for a better place to start. Whilst the accommodation was not quite as luxurious as some of the others we were to stay at, (undoubtedly due to the temporary nature of the camp) it was still supremely comfortable and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the camp felt small and intimate.

The park itself was quite varied in landscape and we saw very few vehicles during our stay which was lovely. We saw more hippos here than anywhere else (they really do like to chat through the night!) and it was wonderful to watch them in and out of the water directly from the veranda in front of the tent. As for other game we saw all 4 of the big five, leopards, giraffe, zebra, birds galore including waterbirds and storks, lots of antelopes, a cobra, baboons, vervet monkeys, warthogs, etc. The only thing I missed out on was wild dogs (although apparently some were in the area).

I'd like to single out Christa the F&B manager for her friendliness and attention to detail and the fantastic vegan food she managed to create for me during our stay, including soy milk and margarine for me at breakfast and even vegan biscuits and cakes during our game drives.

I'd also like to thank M'wewmbe (sorry for spelling) our guide for his great guiding. We saw more varied game in this area than any of the others on our trip and much of this was due to his excellent tracking skills.

If you're thinking of going to Zambia I cannot recommend this place highly enough for a classic safari experience." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana; 6n in Zambia

"Extraordinary game viewing at Tena Tena"

4 nights Arrived 27 Jul 2016
"The game viewing exceeded our expectations.

On the first evening game drive we saw 2 leopards, 3 honey badgers, 3 lions with a kill and hyenas.

Our guide, Julius, was superb. Food was very tasty, particularly the quiches at brunch." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Wild dogs at Tena Tena!"

3 nights Arrived 23 Jun 2016
"We teased Kanga and Bertram mercilessly about our failure to see wild dogs after 4 visits to South Luangwa. Bertram doesn't like to disappoint guests so he went all out to find them for us. And came up trumps - a pack of 17!

Other game was excellent - huge herds of impala and puku, small groups of kudu, magical giraffes, endless elephants and hippos, a pair of mating leopards and lions on all three days out - inldung a sleeping pride on the way to Mfuwe airport on our last day. And the birds continue to amaze - such colours and fabulous sightings - including three lilac breaster rollers doing a dare devil display for us.

Christabel and the team are wonderful hosts and the food, accommodation and hospitality are second to none." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

"Great feeling of being in the bush"

2 nights Arrived 19 Jun 2016
"A great camp with a very "wilderness feel" Incredible walking safaris and feeling of priviledge in sharing the animals habitat. The shower head in Tent 5 incredible piece of innovation!

Meeting Cristobel and Thomas again was great. The river crossing was a magical experience!

The walking transfer to Nsefu (about 3 1/2 hours ) was a magical experience" See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Beautiful Tena Tena!"

3 nights Arrived 12 Jun 2016
"Everything i said about Nkwali is the same for Tena Tena!

Bumped into wild dog's twice, pack of sixteen, and a pack of six, was a huge plus, did not expect to see them, also had wonderful sightings of leopard's, not just fleeting but she actually posed very nicely on a tree for us, wonderful photographs of that moment, elephant's, Eland, baboon's, lion's and their cub's, watching them get ready for their hunt at dusk, the list is endless, particularly pleased at seeing the majestic Martial Eagle!" "Tena Tena - 4 nights"

4 nights Arrived 21 Oct 2015
"A beautiful camp with a chorus of hippos (we have no objection, but some guests find them disruptive to sleep)! The tents are very well done and do work well at keeping out insects. (I am impressed by the velcro for the tent zips - so easy to repair a sticky zip!)

We had excellent morning walks here. The professional behaviour of guides and scouts is notable and we felt very comfortable walking with them. We also had very good drives, even the evening that had a lot of wind and blown sand gave us a white-tailed mongoose :)

As a highlight, we also saw wild dogs here (our second pack). We thoroughly enjoyed our time - the whole experience was great." See all these reviews: 16n in Zambia

"Tena Tena at last"

3 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2015
"This was our visit to Tena Tena - like Nsefu it has a splendid location on the bank of the Luangwa. The new tents are very private and spacious.

We enjoyed excellent game drives and a memorable walk with Bertram, where we came close to many giraffes towering above us." See all these reviews: 16n in Zambia
