"Delights from the two Tenas"

3 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2008
"A wonderful game drive en route from Nkwali to Tena Tena with Jacob. There we were again the beneficiaries of an upgrade to the "honeymoon tent"!

Prince found us the eland at last! Lovely location and very fine game watching, including fascinating night drives (we loved the honey badger).

I'm sorry the fruit bats which invaded out tent were not allowed to stay, but can well understand why!" See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia

"Tena Tena review"

4 nights Arrived 8 Sep 2008
"Excellent camp with first class game and bird viewing.

Only (very!) minor negatives being the main vista from the camp has a large island blocking views of the river at this time of year and that dinner on Day 4 was same as Day 1." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Tena Tena review"

2 nights Arrived 22 Jul 2008
"Lovely ambience at this camp. Katherine helped us to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary with a surprise champagne breakfast by the river during our bush walk - a walk that also included lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffe and a 4 metre long python!

More leopard sightings and the bird life, as at all camps, was excellent." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia; 3n in Malawi; 3n in Mozambique

"Tena Tena has a real open outdoor atmosphere"

2 nights Arrived 10 Jul 2008
"Caterer Katharine met us when we arrived, and familiarized us with our well-constructed and comfortable tents. We found the separate dressing area adjoining the bathroom to be very convenient.

Our skilled guide, Bertram, was very observant, especially when he spotted a number of trees filled with vultures above a buffalo kill where lions were feeding.

Bertram drove us to Kawaza village on our final morning, where we visited the school, the medical clinic, and a traditional healer. We were also treated to a lunch of nshima, pumpkin leaves, and chicken, prepared by the village women. After lunch we were privileged to view traditional Lunda tribal dances performed by some of the women.

Following our visit to the village, Bertram proceeded to drive us to the Mfuwe airport, where he stayed with us until our flight left for Lusaka." See all these reviews: 7n in Zambia

"Lion in camp"

4 nights Arrived 26 Oct 2007
"We had only just arrived when a lioness ran through areana in front of the dining area chasing a warthog.......! She caught him, but seeing people peering over the kitchen "wall" , dropped the frightened beast and ran off. Robin Pope was there at the time. We then had around 5 lions in the entrance area to the camp, so we all had the chance of wonderful photos and lots to talk about over dinner!

The boiler in our tent (4??) kept going out, which was very annoying. Catherine was going to report it. We found the little dressing area between the bedroom and the bathroom very useful but very dark and hot. It was certainly more spacious than Nsefu.

Again, the guides were first class. Food was served in a different place each night, which was fun - we all enjoyed the Mongolian BBQ sitting outside by the camp fire. Catherine had to shoo us all to bed at 1030 as the generator needed to be switched off!" See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Back to relative civilisation at Tena Tena"

4 nights Arrived 30 Sep 2007
"It was a bit of a culture shock to suddenly have so many peoiple around us & to lose Jason. [Ed: their previous guide on their walking safari]

I don't think anyone would have come up to his standard as a guide, but to be fair to the staff at Tena Tena they were all very competent and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. It was therefore a lovely surprise to have Jason for our last game drive, especially when he found us a leopard on a kill.

An airport transfer will never match up to 0430 from Tena Tena to Mfuwe!" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia

"Treated like VIPS"

4 nights Arrived 8 Sep 2007
"We were totally spoiled at Tena Tena due entirely to the wonderful Kerri and her team. Kerri guided us on every game drive and made our four days at Tena unbelievably special. The Caterer, Kat, also looked after us beautifully and we were very grateful for the enormous care and attention they gave us.

The game viewing over the four days was the best either of us have seen in over fourteen safaris." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Tena is a wonderful camp"

4 nights Arrived 11 Aug 2007
"We love Tena. It is exciting, pretty, very friendly and has fantastic game.

We love the leopards and owls especially. The guiding is superb, especially Kerry, the boss.

The food is great and the whole place is a superb package. an extra bonus is the Kawaza village and school - worth a visit by everyone, to see how rural Zambia works, and how the lodges contribute." See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia
