My Sep 2023 trip
Kenya between 1 Sep 2023 and 10 Sep 2023
Arranged By Richard Trillo
Four Points Nairobi Airport
"Four Points Nairobi Airport review"
Kinondo Kwetu
"Kinondo Kwetu review"
Beautiful ocean and beach, outstanding staff - marvellous service at all times and with friendliness and attention without being OTT. Nidi and Anna were terrific hosts.
The accomodation, pools etc. very comfortable, convenient. Snorkelling and SCUBA trips went really well. We had a marvellous 4 nights here and would definitely recommend it.
The location gives it a real sense of effortless relaxation."
Kulalu Camp
"Kulalu Camp review"
Bush was outstanding as our host, and all of the staff went out of their way to make us welcome and to look after us. This small camp gave a beautiful sense of "away from it all" and being in the bush.
Food was very good, wholesome and presented with aplomb. Game drives were thorough - it was super-dry and so animals were dispersed but nevertheless we got to see lions, elephants, buffalo and numerous antelope. - well done Shadrack, our guide.
Galana Conservancy is a big place and I'd love to see it again to get to know it better."
Severin Safari Camp
"Severin Safari Camp review"
Facilities and staff top-notch, super-well organised, but large and a tad impersonal for our taste.
Nevertheless, a marvellous lodge set in a top-rate and remote wildlife area."
Brilliant Conservancy Experience
Kenya between 18 Oct 2020 and 29 Oct 2020

Four Points Nairobi Airport
"Four Points: convenient airport stop-over"
Offbeat Mara
"Offbeat Mara totally on the ball"
The staff are all enormously welcoming and helpful, relaxed but excellent service. Jennifer the manager is a force of nature and personality: a brilliant hostess and organiser.
Geoffrey kept glasses topped up and plates brimming. The food was simple but varied in style, and excellent in taste and quantity.
Offbeat is a place for safari enthusiasts - everything is laid on for game drives, walks and even Mara-thon jogging. Nothing was too much trouble for our excellent Maasai guide and spotter, Muli and Simo, who were outstanding as both hosts and companions.
Make sure to spend some time at the Mara river - not for migration but just for the magic of the location and to see what appears."
Basecamp Leopard Hill
"Heavenly Leopard Hill"
Food was delicious and chef Robin was always on hand to chat about options and preferences: his various chilled soups were a delight and perfect for lunch.
Guiding was outstanding - we had Nash - a thoroughly engaging, extremely friendly and enthusiastic guide who completely knows her stuff and is fun to explore the bush with. We hit all of the high points, including a spectacular lion kill of a large male impala before our very eyes.
My only grump about Leopard Hill is that drinks are extra. Given the experience it offers, one might expect that local drinks were included in the tariff. Beyond that - it is faultless."
Nairobi Serena Hotel (Not currently featured by Expert Africa)
"Nairobi Serena - a plush oasis"
Perhaps a bit corporate in atmosphere and one of two dinner meals, a vegetarian dish, was disappointing. Nevertheless, it was a very comfortable bed for the night and excellently placed in the centre of town,"

Arranged an excellent city guide for us (Herr Klaus Otto)"
Namutoni Camp
"Namutoni ok for a single night"
Camp busy and watehole experience not too good with a number of thoughtless trippers."

Okondeka and Newbrownii are fantastic places to view game"

Palmwag Lodge
"Palmweg is stunning"
Do the sleep out if you can - we had to drive off a pride of lions before settling down to out tents."
Okonjima Plains Camp
"Okonjima delivers what it promises"
Guides and staff fantastic- vey professional, helpful and welcoming.
Saw cheetah (am) and leopard (pm). Even though they are collared, it was still a thrill.
Seems very heavily branded as an organisation - hopefully their commercial success does pay off for wildlife & locals."
