Safaris usually start early...

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is a wonderful and unique accommodation option.

Ngorongoro offers rich wildlife rewards...

...and some great scenery.

The lake is a good spot for watching the birdlife.

...you may come across some lions...

...as well as large herds of zebra...

...and beautiful spots to admire the landscape.

You also may encounter some hippos while having a break by the lake.

"Expecting more"

I visited Tanzania between 15 Oct 2010 and 25 Oct 2010
"The trip as a whole was satisfactory.

The beginning didn't start off well. In our packet of papers sent by Expert Africa, they didn't give us a local phone number to reach the tour company. They gave us one that didn't work and it was an office number even though the tour company has an emergency cell phone. Thus when we missed our connecting flight, we weren't able to get in touch with the tour company.

Then the hotel on the packet was the wrong hotel so when we took a taxi to the hotel listed on the packet, it was not the right one. We ended up getting to our right hotel at midnight. Also on the packet it didn't tell us what the tour company's name was so nobody knew what tour group we were with.

The first guide was more of a driver and a person that could identify things. But didn't give us much more. Overall, if I had more time, I would have preferred to book things myself instead of going through Expert Africa. I don't think we needed to go to any of the smaller parks except for Ngorongoro and then on to the Serengeti. The way it was arranged, we were getting to the smaller parks in the middle of the afternoon when all the animals were asleep and hidden." "Tanzania comments"

I visited Tanzania between 9 Oct 2010 and 23 Oct 2010
"It exceeded our expectations! Our trip was absolutely wonderful. The planning was flawless, and every detail was taken care of.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

A little more guidance on tipping would be helpful. While we asked for and received specific guidelines on amounts for the staff and the drivers, we were unaware until we arrived that separate (and fairly substantial) tips for butlers and trackers were also expected. We had calculated our expected total cash needs, and then doubled that figure when planning how much money to take, and we were glad to have the excess with us. Your notes to travellers could indicate that in some camps, these additional staff members may also be deserving of tips." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 13 on a Tanzania safari

"Unforgettable. Not enough superlatives"

I visited Tanzania between 23 Sep 2010 and 9 Oct 2010
"Our trip went without a hitch as it did 2 years ago. We love Tanzania and it's people and it was wonderful to return. We can't wait to go back.

We travelled with Expert Africa previously and because of their efficiency, personalised service, knowlege and preparatory information as well as their competitve pricing. We returned and we were not disappointed.

There was one part of our trip that we would change and that was the trip to Lake Manyara. After Selous it felt so crowded and more like being in an open zoo than on safari. It was so disappointing and we perhaps would have been better just going to Bourganvillea Lodge for a relax and a dip in the pool that afternoon." "Brilliant!"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 23 Sep 2010 and 9 Oct 2010
"What we loved about the trip was the variety of locations, living arrangements and geography. It was a nicely mixed bag. The entire trip was seamless. We never had to worry . Someone else was in charge and we transitioned from plane to plane, camp to camp, etc. without a worry. It was brilliant and you will be dealing with us in the future as we are hooked on Africa.

The only downside to the entire trip was Lake Manyara. After the solitude of Selous, it was a culture shock and something we could have taken a big miss on. The Ngogoro Crater was also difficult with its traffic jams but the crater more than made up for that. In the future we will steer clear of "busy" spots because they simply aren't our thing.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

I really cannot think of a thing. Claire Scott did a fabulous job and we will recommend her and Expert Africa to our friends in the US. Sadly, people in the US do not travel nearly enough and can't be counted on for much business." Read full review: 16 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"Great help and patience"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 27 Jul 2010 and 11 Aug 2010

"Fantstic trip that ran like clockwork"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 25 Jul 2010 and 11 Aug 2010
"Great trip with all the logistics working perfeclty.

Claire and Ellie workied hard to pull the trip together and patiently looked at various options before we finalised the arrangements. I had also challanged a number suggestions which were explained to me while the trip was being prepared and which. with hindsight, were the right ones to make.

Thank you - I'm sure we will come back to you for another trip at some point in the near future.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

It would be worth getting clarity on bank credit card charges to advise customers - we got inconsistent charges quoted - form no charge (Ras Katani) to 10% charge for credit cards at Impala camp. Fortunately we had bought enough cash not to have to pay but it could be expensive if you were not prepared and it's puzzleing that the the fees quoted were inconsistnet." We found out latterly that it is possible to go onto BA website just before 24hours before take off and purchase (if there is room) greatly reduced upgrades to Premium Class, which we would have like to have been told." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 7 on a Tanzania safari
