"Southern Sun Hotel"

1 night Arrived 11 Oct 2012
"A necessary hotel to sleep at so as to catch the early morning flight home. Its location was closer to the airport than the last hotel we stayed at in Dar.

However you arrive late afternoon, eat, sleep and leave early so it is impossible to comment really" See all these reviews: 14n in Tanzania

"Southern Sun Dar review"

1 night Arrived 22 Sep 2012
"Some difficulty with on-line check-in, locating where and how to do it in the hotel.

Eventually we went to Kearsley's office on the mezzanine level (not the hotel desk who looked at us blankly)." See all these reviews: 11n in Tanzania

"Ta Dah! in Dar"

1 night Arrived 21 Sep 2012
"I wasn't expecting much from the Southern Sun, I don't really know why though as it turned out to be a comfortable, well run hotel with some very nice touches and some of the best food we ate across the whole trip.

Rooms are nice, public areas comfortable, nice large terrace by the pool that served fantastic food at a reasonable price for a business hotel. Bottles of water given out at reception on arrival, plus a goody bag for the ladies (including some smellies and a kit kat). The gifts shop was well stocked if you have run out of time to shop and they will post a postcard for you at reception.

Overall and excellent overnight stop and should I visit Dar es Salaam again I wouldn't stay anywhere else" See all these reviews: 5n in Tanzania; 3n in Rwanda; 1n in Zanzibar

"Mediocre stay at Southern Sun"

1 night Arrived 6 Sep 2012
"We only used Sourhern Sun for overnight stay before early morning flight home. We ordered room service breakfast which failed to turn up. Room was ok but a little tired.

Evening meal in Resturant was good." See all these reviews: 9n in Tanzania

"A very good hotel"

1 night Arrived 5 Jul 2012
"I thought the Southern Sun was an excellent hotel, one of the best I've stayed in. Good service, large rooms and good food.

The only downside was the location, being quite distant from the aiport." See all these reviews: 9n in Tanzania

"A well-run business-oriented hotel"

1 night Arrived 13 Jun 2012
"I stayed here for one night preparatory to returning to the U.S. after a 2-wk safari in the TZ game parks.

The hotel served that purpose very well, plus giving me a day to explore Dar. It is not a tourist hotel, with a much more business-oriented clientele, but that was fine. Good service, good food, opportunity to check email in the business center.

All the things one needs to do in preparation for returning home." See all these reviews: 14n in Tanzania
