"Great location via a long rough track. Well spread out with individual stone bungalows. We had an electric heater with an option of a coal fire which we declined in view of previous comments re charcoal.

Hot water bottles were put in the bed at night and were very much appreciated. The main building was quite cold in the evenings.

The food was buffet style, hot food was only warm and the meat dishes tended to be dry. The homemade soup each day was delicious, good range of salad / fruit.
Staff were very attentive.

Boots were cleaned after each trek to a high standard.

"We received a warm welcome on arrival at the lodge and immediately appreciated its peaceful position, in lovely grounds, with beautiful views of the volcano.

Our room was pleasantly sited, well spaced from any others. With plenty of sitting space, a large bed each, a lovely log fire each evening and hot water bottles, it was very comfortable and cosy. The large bathroom was a bit chilly in the early morning, but there was always plenty of hot water.

The food was rather variable At its best, notably two lunches when we had a small a la carte choice, it was very good, enhanced by eating outside in the sunshine. At other times it was disappointing, particularly a couple of the evening buffets when the food was not as hot as we would like.

The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Having our boots cleaned every day was a bonus, and I really appreciated the foot and leg massage after each trek. We very much enjoyed the dancing and singing by the visiting group.

"The lodge is well located on the edge of the national park, down a dirt track away from the town, with beautiful views over the volcanoes. The staff are friendly and welcoming and try to do their best. However the lodge feels very dated, the rooms are basic and the food is average. "The staff at this property could not have been nicer or more helpful.

This is a very basic place, however. Dark and unattractive, the rooms are individual cabins heated by a space heater and wood fireplace. The food isn’t great and there’s no wifi in the rooms.

The bathrooms are large with great showers, and the hotel will rent jackets, gloves, gaiters for the gorilla hike.

"The food could be improved, Breakfast was fine and ala carte was ok but the dinner buffet was not so good.

"The Mountain Gorilla View Lodge was amazing! Such a beautiful location. Very nice accommodations. The rooms are basically individual villas with a large sitting area and fireplace, king bed and very large bathroom with a shower. Each night, a staff member comes to your room to make a fire for you. Such a nice touch!

The staff was excellent and made every effort to make our stay enjoyable. The buffet-style meals were delicious with an excellent variety of choices and great desserts. The views of the mountains are lovely and it's very close to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, which you really should visit if you have time.

We really enjoyed the leg massages after the Golden Monkey and Mountain Gorilla treks! A local drum troupe provided entertainment. The gift shop has a good selection of local art. The gift shop also rents gloves and gaiters so you don't have to bring your own if you need them for the treks.
