Kalahari Bush Breaks: Our full report
Situated between the cattle outpost of Gobabis, at the centre of Namibia's cattle farming area, and the border ...
... with Botswana is the small, owner run Kalahari Bush Breaks. The main lodge is made up of a three level thatched complex. A warm, enclosed lounge and dining area with a high thatched ceiling make up the ground floor. Above this are en-suite bedrooms each with double beds. There's also a large, doughnut shaped boma area, with a fireplace in the middle, kitchen and bar facilities. Reflecting the owner's profession of architecture, the lodge has been well and carefully designed with solid wood on a large scale.
The garden is shaded by thorn trees and overlooks a floodlit waterhole where game and birds come to drink.
Although many visitors simply stop over here, activities can be arrange including scenic drives in 4WD vehicles, self-guided walks on marked trails, guided walks, extended game drives and horse-riding. It's also a great spot to relax with the chance to enjoy a private picnic lunch in the tree-house or spending a night under the night skies in 'star beds'. You'll find yourself well looked after by the husband and wife team of Ronnie and Elsabe Barnard, with excursion times and meals remaining flexible.
