"BullsPort Lodge & Farm review"
The owners and staff are exceptionally welcoming and friendly and spent time chatting to us when we were in the public areas. The food is homemade, most grown / produced in the property and that which is not, is purchased locally. We enjoyed a lovely 3 course dinner with exceptionally tasty vegetables and meat, homemade bread and with dairy elements produced from their cows. It tasted amazing. This was also true of our very fresh breakfast.

We had been expecting to eat with other guests but this was not possible due to COVID restrictions. While this is understandable we were left to feel excluded as the hosts spent almost the entire time with their German speaking guests.
The hosts were very apologetic following a breakdown of the hot water supply to our rooms but this did result in us having to move both parent and children to other rooms.
Our guide to and the walking excursion the gorge were excellent.
The visit behind the scenes of the farm was good.

I’m really sorry that the welcome seemed impersonal. Our manager usually greets our guests but she was at lunch, so was only able to welcome them later that afternoon, to chat about their journey and check if the rooms where comfortable. This family was checked in when they arrived at 14:00 by our housekeeper.
We did have problems that evening with electricity and hot water that night. This is rare for us, but clearly affected their stay despite out best efforts to rectify the issues swiftly and minimise the inconvenience caused.
During their first dinner, the parents seemed very engaged with their 3 children. They had a bottle of sparkling wine and I assumed they were having a special time and wanted time alone. I’m sorry if I misread this situation.
We’re glad that this family enjoyed their walking excursion and I was pleased that I was able to spend time with them myself, chatting about our grazing and fodder after dinner; taking them around the back-of-house at the farm to explain about aspects of our farming; and guiding them on the horse-riding trip.
I am so sorry that, despite this, we weren’t able to get it right for these travellers during their stay. We’ll continue to try even harder to meet the expectations of our customers going forward.”

We chose the Quiver Tree Gorge Trail one of the most beautiful and pleasant trails including swimming in the creek

"A destination on its own"
We were able to do three hikes in their premise, one is a self guide with good marking. Another two with a guide and the 4 Wheel drive.

"Bullsport was a Great Place to Stay"
Having said that, the hosts were fantastic and made us feel very welcome.
The food was wholesome and served with the hosts and guests, all sat around a large table for all to enjoy.
We asked to go on the afternoon horse and carriage drive around the farm and were treated to a very informative hour or two looking around and watching the wildlife.

"To be avoided"
The staff were not particularly friendly and one got the sense that everything needed to be done according to the way the owner wanted it done otherwise the staff would be in trouble. Examples were "sorry I cannot give you the wifi code, you need to get that from the manager, we are not allowed to know what it is" to the staff getting extremely agitated when we were not all seated at 7.30 for dinner. Then the poor staff members have to serve you dinner and then sit at the table with you making small talk which was very awkward.

Regarding wifi: the owners are sorry for the misunderstanding between these travellers and the staff member about the lodge wifi. In a remote location like Bullsport, connections aren’t easy or fast. So to ensure as fast and as reliable wifi connection as possible for guests, the owners have installed a wifi network that is separate from the network used by the lodge’s team of staff. This Wifi is password-protected and is managed by the owners and duty managers, and only disclosed to guests.
