"Fantastic stay at the Eagle's Nest"
We drove the 7km to the main hotel on both evenings for dinner, and the meals and service were both very good. We had a breakfast platter at the Rock on both mornings, whcih lasted most of the day. The walk we followed was easy to follow and had fantastic views." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"On our own at the Eagle's Nest"
The food, particularly breakfast, was not quite up to the standard of some of the other places we stayed, but we enjoyed barbecuing at our lodge one evening.
Excellent way-marked walks with very challenging final descent." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 7n in Botswana
"Eagle's Nest review"
The landscape here is beautiful, the mountains appearing to float on a sea of grass.
The Eagles Nest is however some distance from Luderitz and getting to Kolmanskop to take photos ar sunrise required some effort. We also found the gates to Eagles Nest locked early in the morning and had to wait until staff arrived to unlock them. Its worth checking that the gates will be open if planning to leave early. Nevertheless we wouldn't have missed staying here for anything.
Rather than staying at the Desert Horse Inn for our third night it probably would have been more convenient to stay in Luderitz although this would have made the drive longer the following day." See all these reviews: 25n in Namibia
"Heaven"
This is a grat place, the food is excellent, the staff are helpful nad it is only an hour or so to Luderitiz and you have the wild horses just 10 minutes away, add it to your places to go before the train arrives.
Luderitz excursions - Do not arrange trips (with Wilderness) on a bank holiday. The boat trip is fantastic and the captain fun and knowledgeable. The only down side for me was the phone call from Wilderness asking me where i was as i had missed the trip, apart from that the seals are great the bird life good, dolphins stunning and the hot chocolate fantastic. Would definitely do this again, remember to take your jumper.
Kolmanskop - well it was a bank holiday and we did turn up an hour after the tour (on tame every other day of the year), having said that the guy on the gate did let us in and we did have the place pretty much to ourselves after all the tour people had left. Great place especially when the wind blows and all you can here is silence and history.
Bogenfels / Pomona day trip - This is a trip you need to think about as it is all day in a small mini bus and one of the harshest environments Namibia has and it is brilliant. Pomona is a very emotional experience as the dry air has preserved the timber buildings, which the sand is detrmined to reclaim. I spent an hour here pretty much on my own (their was only myself and Paul and Iris on the trip) and you realise how tough really was. Lunch was pretty good - Iris rustled up a feast in one of the houses).
Then onto Bogenfels (on one rough road) which was stunning, the strong offshore winds created fantastic waves which crashed into the rugged coastline and the arch is a must see for any keen photographer or lover of nature.
Iris was a star." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"At the Eagles Nest"
Convenient to Luderitz and the wild horses the only minus point was again the quality of cuisine - average but no more .
Yet again service could not be faulted." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Klein Aus Vista"
Although we ate at the main lodge in the evening and as it was very cold that night we immmediately lit the fire which was ready for us just to add a match to. There was wine to hand and we slept that night under thick duvets watching the flames chase shadows over the thatch ceiling. We awoke to the moon setting over the desert and the sun rising to turn the mountains pink.
We were advised at check in to order a breakfast platter the previous night whcih was packed up ready to go in our fridge overnight. We ate this enjoying the tranquility of the view and the changing colours of the sunrise. We watched the black eagles flying together overhead and left, sorry to be going so soon.
We were advised by the lass who checked us out to take the D707 route to Sossusvlei as the road was as good as the main route and it was more scenic. This proved to be excellent advice and the road conditions were on the whole very good. The scenery was amazing with red dunes on the left and mountains on the right for much of the journey and we were lucky enough to see a family of bat eared foxes snuffling round just at the side of the road! One of my 'must sees' before we'd set out.
I would most definitely put Klein Aus Vista on my ititnerary for my next trip and stay longer. When anyone says to me 'how was your holiday' the Klein Aus Vista experience is the first thing I tell them about!!" See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia
