"Twyfelfontein Lodge"

1 night Arrived 26 Nov 2013
"This was an interesting place, but our personal preference would be for something simpler.

The only negative comment is that there was far too much choice regarding food and it was a bit 'canteen' standard and probably lots of wastage. We stayed in places where there was little or no choice, but this was fine. However we were well treated and enjoyed all the things there were to see in the area." "Stunning lodge"

2 nights Arrived 26 Oct 2013
"We were very impressed by the lodge and it's accommodation but felt again perhaps too touristy for us as there were several coach companies . Although we would not like to have missed the rock drawings which were incredible and although the lodge staff were very pleasant we felt they didn't help with enough information as to the whereabouts to find them .

Our guide to see some elephants / sundowner was very friendly and informative . Listening to the choir in the evening was lovely .Again on reflection we would have only chosen to spend one night here." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Twyfelfontein County Lodge-Disappointing Star"

2 nights Arrived 25 Sep 2013
"On arrival, we were directed to a motel type room on the left as you approach the Lodge, given a complimentary bottle of wine and told it was a great spot as you can drive up to the Lodge. It did not resemble the other accommodations on site. We were most disappointed when we saw the room and went back to reception saying we couldn't stay there, They relocated us to another room for the first night and then we were moved to a third room for the second night. We did call a representative from Wilderness Safaris, as we wondered if we were only paying the rate for that first offered room We also noted the floors were not clean.

It was all a bit unsettling. We tried not to let it over-shadow our visit to the surrounding area, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site and a drive into the desert to see the elephants ." See all these reviews: 7n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 3n in South Africa; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Twyfelfontein Country Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 15 Sep 2013
"Compared to other venues this lodge is best described as average. The rooms were basic , the towels etc had seen better days. Food overall was good with a very good breakfast selection. However as we do not know the relative cost of staying here compared to the other lodges so we may be judging this unfairly given the price.

The elephant safari was enjoyable but we got the impression that we drove around for almost 3 hours and happened to come across 3 elephants at the end. The guide was not very inspiring compared to others." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Twyfelfontein Country Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 11 Sep 2013
"The setting is fantastic and the main lodge area very atmospheric however the rooms are very pokey indeed and the staff come across as not being bothered in the slightest. Our room was not made up when we arrived at 5pm. The nighttime star watch trip was cancelled for no obvious reason and we only found out because we went to ask- no one had let us know. Our change from our bill was incorrect. It is a pity because the lodge itself is a wonderful structure." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Relaxing stay"

2 nights Arrived 25 Aug 2013
"We spent most of our time doing activities in most of the places we visited. When we finished with all the local 'sights' in this area, it was only an hour later, so we had 2 days to kill at the actual lodge. And it was great. The weather was magnificent for winter and we had 2 really lazy days of sunbathing and swimming in the middle of our trip.

This lodge does not get many 'excellent' reviews, but they sure are trying. The rooms aren't the cleanest we have seen, but they have everything you need. The food really blew me away. We had some of the best game of our trip there and the spread and selection at dinner and breakfast was endless and very tasty. The common areas were well groomed and 'resorty'. There were more people here than at other boutiques we stayed at, but it didn't seem to interfere with our enjoyment.

They had very limited chairs/sun loungers by the pool, but given that it was winter this wasn't a big deal. All in all, I really enjoyed it and recommend if for anyone wanting a 'break' from all the driving and sight seeking. We fit in one elephant trekking tour and they didn't disappoint. The sundowners made it even more special." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia
