"Namibia road trip 2019"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 19 Jun 2019 and 12 Jul 2019
"Amazing trip which exceeded our expectations.

All the locations were great but each had their own distinctive feel and character. The landscapes were more impressive than we had expected and it was a real thrill to get to see so many animals and birds up close.

The people throughout Namibia were very friendly and the staff in the lodges were all very welcoming and made us feel at home. Even things like car hire went very smoothly, with great service from the Bidvest staff.

We highly recommend Namibia as a fantastic destination and will definitely be using Expert Africa for any other African adventures which we may have.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

The only thing I would change would be to hire a Toyota 4x4 or double cab next time.

The Nissan X Trail wasn't really robust enough for some of the rougher gravel roads." Read full review: 23 nights in Africa; 21 on a Namibia trip

"A magnificent trip to a fantastic country"

I visited Namibia between 18 Jun 2019 and 2 Jul 2019
"We have absolutely no negative comments. The whole trip was perfectly planned and executed. There is nothing that in retrospect we would do differently. My wishes and tastes were perfectly interpreted by your organisation.

It was a real joy to drive on those empty gravel roads for hundreds of kilometers and gave a bit of a sense of adventure. We would recommend to anyone!

Our trip was not organised by Sabine but by Josh, who has left, so my comments apply to him." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 10 on a Namibia trip

"Outstanding trip full of highlights"

I visited Namibia between 5 Jun 2019 and 20 Jun 2019
"I finally made the trip to Namibia and am full of praise of it.

The arrangements by ExpertAfrica were made with knowledge and experience which made a solo trip rather easy and worry free. Despite the serious drought Namibia is a beautiful country with much to offer. Wildlife, varied scenery, ancient cultures and friendly people everywhere were the main highlights.

I wished I had allowed more time for the trip. I am thus thinking of coming back as soon as I can and visit other places not included in this trip." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Namibia trip

"Welcome to Africa Trip"

I visited Namibia and 2 other countries between 1 Jun 2019 and 28 Jun 2019
"A-MA-ZING absolutely amazing. It was way better than I expected and a great experience.

I was surprised by the beauty of the landscape in Namibia despite its dryness. It was easy to travel around, the people were so helpful at our accommodation places and the camping was a great experience. It worked well interspersing a couple of days camping between the lodges and everything that your company organised went to plan.

The planning was meticulous with lots of essential and background information provided to ensure we had a successful trip.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service: Adding the timing of the afternoon game drives/activities at the various lodges may be helpful as we missed some." Read full review: 27 nights in Africa; 9 on a Namibia trip

"My May 2019 trip"

I visited Namibia between 26 May 2019 and 14 Jun 2019
"We loved our trip and really loved the places we stayed. The only thing I might change is that every other day we had long drives. This was mostly unavoidable because we wanted to cover a lot of ground but the long drive from the middle camp n Etosha to the camp outside could have been avoided but then again we did like that private camp. Maruska did a great job overall and we appreciated her guidance." Read full review: 19 nights in Africa; 14 on a Namibia trip

"A brief taste of Namibia"

I visited Namibia between 21 May 2019 and 30 May 2019
"We chose Namibia as we need somewhere that could accommodate a relatively short trip, and where we could also do some activities/lodges that, although wildlife-focused, would provide a different experience or environment from other safaris we have done in Southern & East Africa. We therefore had a slightly unusual itinerary (no Etosha, and the south of the country simply wasn't possible to do as well in the time we had). I do feel like we will probably have to come back, as everyone kept telling us how amazing the desert was! But the places we visited were all very good and we certainly had some new and very interesting experiences.

The self-driving was a bit of new concept for us (on African trips I have only driven in South Africa before as most safaris in Zambia, Kenya etc are not practicable for self-drivers) but, although the drives were long and everything seemed to take a bit more time than I expected, the roads were no worse and in many case much better than they are in South Africa." "Excellent memories"

I visited Namibia and 1 other country between 17 May 2019 and 31 May 2019
"A good blend of self drive and guided, the trip delivered on all we wanted, both animals and birds.

We enjoyed Botswana and the fellow guests we shared with quality time with.

I would not recommend anyone doing three flights in a day starting in Windhoek, maybe we should have stayed overnight in Jo'burg, not something | thought of, before flying on to Maun and beyond.

Thanks again to Tracy for making it all happen without any problems." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 9 on a Namibia trip

"Action packed 3 weeks "

I visited Namibia between 9 May 2019 and 31 May 2019
"Absolutely love Namibia which exceeded expectations as did all the guides.

Highly recommend it because the range of diverse environments is massive, jaw dropping and beautiful throughout. The lodges we stayed at were all very good, with Etendeka the reality check, in it being close to a real tent (!) and Anderssons, Kulala, Goche Ganas off the scale in luxury. Driving 3,000km in a Nissan X-Trail was easy on 80% of the roads but became a challenge on the rougher gravel roads when we had to make a deadline. Astonishingly durable car. Only one puncture, en route to the airport.

We will come back and explore the South next time." Read full review: 22 nights in Africa; 19 on a Namibia trip

"Our 40th Wedding Anniversary trip"

I visited Namibia and 2 other countries between 5 May 2019 and 27 May 2019
"The trip as a whole was simply outstanding.

We cannot thank Tom of Expert Africa enough for helping to plan this most memorable trip. All of his suggestions were worthwhile as we saw different landscape and animals at each location. Even our least favoured location (Dolomite) was worth seeing for the views and the variety of wildlife. Shame about the Camp. All the other recommendations by him were spot on and would happily return to any of them.

The variation of Namibia's landscape was incredible and we still cannot believe that we were actually there. I had dreamed of Sossusvlei and Deadvlei and it was just magical when we were there. Every place visited offered its own adventure. The Namibian people were friendly and helpful wherever we went. Driving on the dirt roads was an experience and when we encountered a tarmac stretch or road, we became as excited as if we had seen a rare animal!!

We have no hesitation in recommending Expert Africa to other travellers - Tom was able to deal with our exacting and specific requests with no difficulty.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

More advice on driving on dirt roads for first time travellers would have been helpful. We would emphasise paying great attention to the mechanics of changing the wheel when the spare is chained under the vehicle and also checking tyre pressure before leaving the city for the first time."
