But did not deal very well with a relatively minor issue (bird in room, change of bed sheets needed).
Rooms badly need mosquito nets . Lots of bites." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

The meals were excellent as were all the staff here.
We went on the afternoon drive the Burnt Mountain and the stone etching which was very good. We did not have time to do the morning excursion to see the Desert Elephants which was disappointing.
There was not a thing that I could say was bad or needed improving here." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 8n in Botswana

"Mowani Camp is just a great place"
We stayed 2 nights, the first day we just chose to enjoy the surroundings and the second day we opted for the early morning nature drive, the mission to find the desert elephants, which we did and was well worth the somewhat chilly air experienced in the open Safari vehicle wrapped in blankets. Next stop our driver/guide took us into Damaraland for a coffee stop. This was such a breathtaking experience and you would never know this landscape existed from the road. Coffee and biscuits over with we returned to the lodge happy travellers.
The food was well above African cussine, although they do serve quite a lot of game which we always opted for something else. Whilst there my wife discovered a new drink......there welcome drink with a shot of vodka, topped up with ice, cool and refreshing and very moreish!" See all these reviews: 26n in Namibia
"Desert Elephants at Mowani"
On the second day we were up early in search of Desert adapted elephants and almost immediately found a small herd with a few youngsters among them. We were able to get up close for an hour and a half or so until they disappeared of into the boulders where we could not follow. there was a mouse in the room gnawing its way into the milk cartons when we got back - it scuttled off and we didn't see it again. Our companions had a similar problem, didn't see it but it got into their bags and chewed a few things - there's a lesson, zip up bags when not in the rooms.
One problem we had on returning to our lodge after dinner the light left on to guide us back was covered in moths and as soon as we were inside a put a light on they were all inside. Not the most dangerous situation but bothersome with them flapping all round you - had to put the light out a bunk down. The problem seemed to be that there was a 25cm gap between the walls and the roof that was completely open where in other lodges with a similar gap there were insect nets. Otherwise everything was excellent" See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
"Strongly recommended"
We had the Mountain Suite which is 3 rooms and totally isolated from the rest of the hotel. Highlights included the outdoor bath and shower, the views, the sun-downer on the top of the rocks, a very well-stocked (free) minibar and exemplary service.
The game drive to find the Desert Elephants was wonderful as we tracked them by spoor and footprints, eventually finding them in a dried river bed. Max, our guide, was brilliant, carefully manoeuvring the vehicle so we got the best positions to watch the elephants.
The perfect start to any safari holiday!" See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Desert elephants"
We drove along the Salt Road to Torra Bay to get here - it is absolutely fine to drive. Saw some shipwrecks along the way!
Lovely pool, delicious food.
Went to see the rock engravings at Twelfelfontein - fascinating and well worth a visit." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe
"Showering under the stars"
Wonderful chalet with the outdoor toilet - I loved it. The only issue I had was the heat stuck in the little ante room as we enter the main door. Since the aircon was busy cooling the large room with the bed there was not much left for the TV room.
Most spectacular natural surroundings, the view from the lookout, the rock pool, everything was perfect excep the big Indian group that was noisy. Luckily the left the next morning. Ah, I also have to mention I appreciated the pick up in a truck with aircon. I think additional activity possibilities, like the Damara Living Museum, the petrified forest, etc could be better promoted by staff." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia
