"Doro Nawas review"

2 nights Arrived 11 Jul 2008
"The highlight of our holiday from the stand point of accommodation. Public spaces have got even better since Kulala, design and comfort of rooms has been maintained as has the quality of food, but the real plus is the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff led by Joe and, the perpetually smiling Elfrieda.

The potentially outstanding visit to Twfelfontain was somewhat let down by an unsatisfactory - apparently totally bored - guide called Honey. We registered this at Twfelfontain and Dora !Nawas but you might also like to follow up.

The visit to Burnt Mountain is not really worth while under the full sun. Compensation was an extended viewing of desert - adapted elephants! The guide put in an effort beyond the call of duty to ensure this.

The roof top telescope was an unexpected and much appreciated bonus!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Stunning location and great welcome.

Damaraland excursion from Doro Nawas:

Although the excursion was thoroughly enjoyable the fact the trip to see the local rock art also involved seeing the elephant there was a high degree of duplication." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 6n in Botswana; 1n in Zambia

2 nights Arrived 28 Jun 2008
"We had another lovely stay at Doro Nawas. The camp is in an excellent location and we had a hut looking straight out onto the mountains in front of us.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. During our stay it was one of our birthdays. When the staff found out, they prepared a huge birthday cake with candles and wheeled it out of the kitchen and sang happy birthday and then some other local songs from the area, which was a lovely experience.

The only very slight negative would be that the buffet food was a little cold and didn't seem to match the high standards of the starters and desserts." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia; 6n in Mozambique

"Exceptional"

2 nights Arrived 16 Jun 2008
"On approach, Doro Nawas does look foreboding, but from the warm welcome with cold flannels onwards we received outstanding service, an exquisite room and a restaurant/communal area with great panaramic views.

Special mention must be made of Susan (waitress) who had an ever present smile and infectious laugh. Our guide Lister provided a great morning drive and after 90 minutes of tracking we were fortunate enough to follow a herd of 14 desert elephants for 2 hours.

We cannot speak highly enough of this accommodation - it was a real highlight of our trip." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Excellent desert elephant safari"

2 nights Arrived 16 Jun 2008
"Fantastic place, very slick operation.

Would rate as excellent except we like to get out walking in our surroundings and this wasn't possible at this location without a guide. If there was someway of including some walking it would be heaven.

The wheel-out onto the balcony beds are inspired. Loved it" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"On a high at Doro Nawas"

2 nights Arrived 15 May 2008
"The main reason for staying here was to see the Desert Elephants and we weren't disappointed. So thanks to Arthur our guide for making it exceptional.

Another lovely place with beautiful views from the hilltop main lodge. The staff were helpful and cheerful; Johann was the perfect host and appeared to be everywhere at all times for eveyone (maybe he has a twin?). We had a puncture to our car and Johann was insistent that they fixed it before we left. It was this sort of attention to guest needs that made this a special place." "Charming staff, stunning setting"

2 nights Arrived 12 May 2008
"This was another fantastic lodge. It's in the same vein as Sossus Dune Lodge in terms of both eco-friendliness and service. Note that the track from the main road to the lodge is not really friendly to 2-wheel drive vehicles, you'll be better off with 4wD. We had to take it very gingerly in our Toyota Yaris!

The staff happily taught us a few words of their local language, which uses various clicks that are very difficult to reproduce! They also sang for all the guests at the end of our meal, which was lovely and very entertaining. The manager here - Johann - was superb, a real gent and very obliging. He was very knowledgeable about astronomy, insects and just about anything else you could throw at him! A man who clearly loves his job and is very good with people. We particularly enjoyed our stargazing session with him on the roof, we learned a lot!

The room here was superb. We went for a guided morning walk, which was very enjoyable. Our guide, Arthur, showed us lots of different tracks and explained a lot about trees and plants as well. We were very happy here." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"The desert elephants were the highlight!"

2 nights Arrived 28 Apr 2008
"An excellent lodge with very friendly and helpful staff (they changed my wheel and repaired a puncture at no charge!) Our room was lovely and we enjoyed one night sleeping under the stars on our private veranda. "Peaceful Sleep" was very useful!

The highlight, however, was the game drive which culminated with very good sitings of a herd of around 35 desert elephants." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Doro Nawas review"

3 nights Arrived 23 Apr 2008
"Very highly recommended. V friendly helpful staff and manager.

Memorable bonuses were sleeping on private terrace under the stars, a knowledgable guide by the manager to the astronomy of the night sky from the lodge rooftop, finding desert elephants which was our main reason for being there. Also the delightful simple swimming pool with a view over the plains." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 3n in Zambia
