"Doro Nawas review"
Our guide took us to the elephants, which were a long way from the camp. Although our guide was determined to find the elephants she did not seem to have the all around passion for Namibia that we found in the previous guides. We paid quite a lot for the trip to the rock paintings but being taken there was relaxing and we finished the day with a sun-downer and some interesting conversations in a beautiful spot.
Sleep outside, it feels very special with so many stars and shooting stars and the cool pure air of the desert! The food was good and the young girls in the restaurant were charming ." See all these reviews: 10n in Namibia

There are a lot of steps to reach reception & the restaurant." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

Our guide, Elaine, for the Desert Elephant excursion was very knowledgeable although, at N$550, we thought it was expensive. The morning excursion to Twyfelfontein, Organ Pipes, Burnt Mountain and Petrified Forest (at N$960) is outrageously priced and easy to do yourself - which we did at a minute fraction of the cost.
Best to see Burnt Mountain early or towards sunset. Check your extras bill!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 9n in Botswana

"Doro a delight"
Management were clearly keen for you to enjoy the stay and spent time with guests around mealtimes. We travelled to Doro Nawas from Swakopmund and the roads in-land are poor and the journey took most of the day." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
"Can not express what a good morning we had look for elephants. Guide was top quality and explained all about the area as we travelled over plains and through the bush. Eventually we found the elephants and spent ages right next to them as they fed.
Terriffic experience."

Huge lavish room with beds that can be pulled onto the veranda - and this is a tent! Birds, desert elephants stargazing. Thanks to all our guides and friendly staff. Florencia, you are in the right job." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

Lunch was a buffet, and the food was of a decent standard, but expensive. Dinner was half served half buffet. Some of the dishes were very good, others were average. We ordered a bottle of red wine which was served chilled.
There are several trips you can do from this lodge, but we passed on the Twyfelfontein trip, as it was expensive for what it was, and you can do this trip so easily on your own for a fraction of the cost. We did do the elephant trip and saw elephants.
If this lodge is aiming at the luxury end of the market. they need to focus on those little details that make staying in a place like this a more seamless experience. It is a fabulous lodge, and the staff were friendly, so maybe we just caught them on a bad day." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

The begging by the children at the turn off to Doro !Nowas was quite off putting. This is a very dead end existance for these kids and vistors should be encouraged to think about the practice of giving to these young boys. I did not find an oppurtunity or the right person to mention or discuss this with when there but it is a very important issue." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

Staff courteous but management not very helpful at solving problems. We had no hot water for 2 days and they were not able to fix this before we left, but implied that the problem would be solved quickly. On check-out it transpired that they were unable to do this (resulting in another cold shower) but management implied that we were at fault for not complaining earlier. We appreciate that the lack of water may have been unavoidable, but we should have been offered an alternative.
Accomodation is showing it's age (tired looking bedding and sinks) and the food was cooked well but a poorly thought-out menu (i.e. too much European food, no local game, some very stodgy combinations).
Overall, not bad but very pricey for what you get. It is probably worth looking at alternatives in the area." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia
