"Great experience with rhino trackers"

4 nights Arrived 11 May 2017
"Incredible to see how hard the trackers work to monitor the rare desert rhinos. (There is other game to see as well) Very friendly staff, excellent guide, great meals." See all these reviews: 27n in Namibia

"Desert Rhino Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 15 Apr 2017
"This was the best accommodation and ambience of our trip. The dinner under the stars after the 'scorpion hunt' was fabulous. Esther and her staff were superb. They even remembered and used our names. Lots of singing and dancing by the staff.

11 hours in the jeep searching for the elusive rhino (we saw a mother and her baby) was about 4 hours too long. The roads are extremely rough. Anyone with back problems should not attempt this.

Many people fly into this this. It is a long drive to get to the parking lot and then it is another 2 hours by lodge jeep to the lodge.

Our guide, Liberty, was a lot of fun." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 4n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Desert Rhino Camp."

4 nights Arrived 27 Feb 2017
"Another great welcome here and a reasonable tent, though it did have some drawbacks. The bedroom part of the tent is rather cramped and the space is out of proportion with the overly spacious bathroom/wash area. The luggage stand needs to be at the back close to the shelving and hanging space. I wish Wilderness would copy the design of tent in it's own camp at Little Makalolo in Zim, they are just right. The gravel path has worn away from the wooden steps up to some of the tents. This has resulted in the bottom step being awkwardly high. The food here was good and special mention should be made of the bush lunches on the rhino treks which were excellent. All the staff, guides and rhino trekkers were enthusiastic and friendly. The rhino trekking drives can be very long and the tracks are are very rough. On two days we were out for nearly twelve hours. That was fine by us but it does mean it's only suited to the dedicated." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Great experience"

2 nights Arrived 17 Jan 2017
"The only downside of this camp was the bruised coccyx from the very bumpy transfers and game drive to see the rhino. Other than that, it was a fabulous experience with the most lovely staff, guides and good food in a stunningly beautiful location.

It was very special seeing a mum and baby rhino close up, although slightly scary!" See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"Spectacularly beautiful"

2 nights Arrived 1 Jan 2017
"Amazing staff that made us feel so welcome and spoiled at Desert Rhino Camp. Everyone went out of their way to treat us as family.

The location was starkly spectacular and there was lots of wildlife. The game drives were very bumpy and it sometimes took a long time to find the rhino or elephant but we were always rewarded. Food was excellent and we had a lovely BBQ on the last night hosted by the staff who sang and danced for us.

We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend a few days stay." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Desert Rhino Camp review"

3 nights Arrived 6 Dec 2016
"One of the highlights of our trip. Our guide Erwin was marvellous- very knowledgable and friendly and accommodating.

The set up with tents and lodge were great and the service was outstanding. The scorpion hunt (aka bush dinner) a wonderful surprise.

So much activity which was great. Tracking rhino and elephants lots of fun. Incredible landscape and so worth the effort to get there.

Staff absolutely amazing!" See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Different and interesting"

2 nights Arrived 11 Nov 2016
"Different concept, shows another side of the Namibian landscape which is in total contradiction to the rest of Namibia.

Different concept of interaction between staff and guests with common dinners etc.

Great guides, very knowledgable." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"Return to Desert Rhino Camp-amazing!"

4 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2016
"We visited Desert Rhino Camp in 2006 and returning to this camp was one of the main reasons for returning to Namibia. Once again we had the best 4 days of our trip here at the camp.

Our guide Herunga was excellent, the trackers, Jasson, Denson and Albertus were fantastic. All the staff were just delightful, joyous and such a pleasure to be with. They are all committed to saving the black rhino and their songs and dancing reflect the passion they have for their wildlife and their country.

We successfully tracked 6 black rhino including 'Speedy' who we first saw in 2006. He seldom visits the area and it was a very special moment to watch and track him." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Traditional safari Camp"

3 nights Arrived 21 Sep 2016
"Completely different environment. The landscape is fabulous, red rock and oasis. On our first evening we saw elephants, Giraffe, oryx.

You have to be patient at desert rhino. Our first day we saw one rhino for 10 minutes and we were in a bumpy truck for 9 hours, be prepared! The consolation was at the end of the day, cold G&T and beer in our room watching a beautiful sunset. Our second day was no shorter but much more productive we saw 5 rhino, elephants, giraffe. It was a wonderful day.

The downside is that all the time is in the truck so you are removed from the environment. However this is the happiest camp we have ever stayed in, there is lots and lots of singing. The staff cant do enough for you. The guiding is enthusiastic. Take your own charge adapter!" See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Once in a lifetime experience"

3 nights Arrived 15 Sep 2016
"Exemplary respect for the environment: guest facilities (water and electricity usage) and safari activities (concern for animals was prioritized).

Trackers from Save the Rhino Trust and guides from the camp were of the highest quality.

Our comfort in camp and on safari was top of mind.

Staff embodied the spirit of the mission of the camp rather than just doing things because they were told to." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
