"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 5 Oct 2009
"Beautiful situation, with attractive communal areas and individual rooms placed among the rocky parts of the site with imaginative use of natural features in their design. Not an area with a wide range of animal life, other than the baboons, porcupines and dassies, but a selection of birds for the enthusiast.

The prime attraction of the lodge is the range of walks available, which were of varying length and difficulty. All offered interesting and scenic outings and the views from the surrounding hills were stunning, both at dawn and at dusk, as well as at other times of day. The guides were helpful and knowledgeable and friendly.

The level of service was excellent and the staff seemed genuinely pleased to be able to assist guests both at the lodge and in arranging things in the local town. The food was also of a very high quality and could not be faulted. Despite the high levels of attentive service and excellent food, the lodge was marked by a wonderfully relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, probably influenced largely by management and staff.

Our stay was totally relaxing while including a good level of walking activity, and overall was a really excellent experience." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"Great location, and really nice to be able to walk around a bit.

There always seemed to be something going on here, either Baboons or other noises and some lovely birds, plus some lovely porcupines in the evenings." See all these reviews: 19n in Namibia

"A great place to walk in the hills"

1 night Arrived 5 Oct 2009
"We loved this place! Beautiful hillwalks, excellent food (some of the best we had in 2 1/2 weeks in Namibia), and just a great attitude on the part of management.

The tents were very comfortable, although the very nervous might have problems with the bathrooms, which are open to the great outdoors." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana

"Loved it - a very peaceful and relaxed final stay in Namibia.

The surroundings and views were delightful and we had a very enjoyable walk early one morning. Wish we'd stayed another night instead of returning to Windhoek.

Mike & Karen the temporary managers were very nice and made us feel very welcome." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia

"Amazing Place Stay More Than 1 Night!"

2 nights Arrived 26 Sep 2009
"We stayed here for 2 nights and we could have easily stayed for more. We went on a waiting list to get into this lodge and I am so glad we stuck it out, if you love walking, want beautiful rocky scenary with plenty of wildlife this is the place, so relaxing. The staff here are fantastic really friendly and accommodating.

We stayed in what I think was there honeymoon suite and it was brilliant, all the chalets are essentially the same tented room attached to a purpose built bathroom just surrounded by nature and all decorated to an exceptional standard. You sometimes get a wake up call from the Baboons on the mountain behind which is useful if you are off for one of the walks which start really early to avoid the heat! The sundowner walk to the top of the Kopje is worth it for the views it really is breathtaking, and the guides are excellent.

The reastaurant area is a great place to relax chat to other guests and staff and from the terrace there is a view of the flood lit watering hole, but the real stars of the show are the porcupines that run up to the kitchen to steal scraps at night! During the day there are loads of Rock Dassie everywhere and Damara Dik Dik's!

It is really worth staying here it is lovely to take a walk in the early morning and spend the day just relaxing, especially if it is the end of your trip which sadly it was for us." See all these reviews: 13n in Namibia

"I wish I had booked in to stay here longer!

The area and its surroundings were amazing. Even the racket from the dassies overnight added to the experience!

Another great area for stretching the legs and getting some well needed exercise after driving around Etosha." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia; 2n in Zambia

"Dassi delight"

2 nights Arrived 8 Sep 2009
"The camp was in a stunning location with a bit of a climb up to bed (we had the highest tent with the best view!!!!!).
The tent was excellent, and the shower and toilet in a unique setting. When you showered you looked up and the dassis were there looking at you!!!!!

There was a small pool amongst the rocks which was a pleasure to use during the hottest part of the day (siesta time!!!).

We did an early morning walk which turned into a bit of a route march. It would have been better to have had good maps and done it ourselves had we realised. However it gave us a good feel for the area.

The wild life and birds were very good with porcupine in the evening at the small water hole, several endemic birds and baboons roaming the mountain tops morning and night.

A great way to finish our holiday." See all these reviews: 15n in Namibia
