"Heaven in the mountains"

1 night Arrived 1 Sep 2010
"We stayed on our last night and what a fabulous place to end our holiday on.

The lodge is tucked away in the mountains and you park your car at the bottom and they come and fetch you in a 4x4. The fixed tents are dotted around the rocks along raised walkways and are big and nicely furnished with a veranda and amazing bathroom build ito the rocks.

The dining room and small swimming pool are up more walkways at the top of the lodge. The dining room is light and airy with scenic views on one side. They really care about food here and have aspirations to fine dining. The quality was excellent as was the standard of cooking. They also provide afternoon tea with delicious homemade cakes. The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful.

We loved it and were sad we only stayed one night." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 29 Aug 2010
"Breathtaking location, spectacular views, alarmed at first with the abundance of dassies until we realised they were more frightened of us!
Tents were perfectly situated for privacy, loved the open plan en-suite

Service was second to none, especially on the occasion of our anniversary when we had dinner on the deck overlooking the pool. 'Timu' our waiter on that evening was excellent.

Our early morning nature walk was brilliant, the guide was very informative and the views at the top of the Baboon Walk were out of this world" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Magnificent setting! Brilliant camp/ back to nature!

Drive into the camp beats any fairground ride! Food superb. Guided walk informative and very enjoyable. Fantastic views from summit, excellent guide. Attention by staff was superb.

Private anniversary dinner for our companions was quite remarkable and made it a very special occasion and stay.

Really enjoyed our stay here." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 18 Aug 2010
"Erongo was the last lodge we visited - and one of the best. It has a unique setting amongst boulder-strewn landscape, and we were all fascinated by the activities of the many Rock Hyrax in and around the camp. The units are scattered along wooden walkways across the hillside, each with its own unique view.

Our teenagers room had the most 'integrated' bathroom we had seen, with large boulders incorporated in the design of the bathroom itself. Bathroom & toilet were again curtained off as in other camps, but it was good to see that the water from the shower served a dual purpose as drinking water for the Hyrax for whom water was at a premium!

The restaurant was small and intimate, and gave great views of wildlife in the evening such as porcupines and one one occasion, a small wild cat. Staff were friendly and helpful. We regretted only having been able to stay 1 night here - as 2 nights would give more opportunities to walk further afield with the guides. Would definitely go back again!

Just one point - beware of the bump on the road up - we had an X-Trail with good ground clearance - but easy to catch bottom of car!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 11 Aug 2010
"Perched on a koppie with thatched shelters on separate outcrops. Rooms )2*single bed) were tents suspended below the thatched shelters, shower/toilet outside - close the tent to prevent unwanted flying guests.

Dinner was served at a set time (we arrived after dark - not recommended). Good choice of menu cooked by a professional chef served in the restaurant with windows (no glass) looking over more rocks - the porcupines walked by while we were eating.

The activity (a no-cost option) is a nature walk to the top of the hill behind the restaurant - start before sunrise - the flora and fauna were well explained and the view from the top over the scrub land below was stunning. Breakfast was served on our return - again a more than adequate choice of food.

There is a gift shop of local produce plus the obligatory tee-shirt, hat, etc. and a poll that we did not try." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia

"One last sundowner"

1 night Arrived 9 Aug 2010
"This place has a lot of character and an awful lot of rock dassies! We had a lovely welcome and got stuck in straightaway by doing the Eagle Walk over the granite dome behind the tented chalets, which took about an hour, and then joining up with other guests for the sundowner walk up a smaller rocky pile. The rooms were fine, though the tents are starting to look a little frayed round the edges. The food and service in the evening were both excellent.

A shame we had to leave early the next day as this is one place which would certainly repay a longer stay." See all these reviews: 20n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

1 night Arrived 6 Aug 2010
"A stunning location with rooms along walkways in the mountain.

The rooms are simple but nicely styled and you will walk up and down a lot - but the bar/restaurant area has good views and the food was delicious. Do take a guided walk- or two and climb the rocks at sunset.

We were made very welcome and would have liked an extra night here." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
