"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
The drive from Windhoek is not long or demanding, the activities are not too strenuous, so a good place to acclimatise at the start of the holiday." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
Staying there and talking to the guide about his life, family, etc. as well as the wildlife and scenery proved a great introduction to Namibia and we only wished that we could have had a second night there (it had not been possible to organize this at the planning stage)." "Where?"
We were looking forward to doing some walking here and made a point of arriving early in the afternoon but were only staying one night and found that the 'real' walks all happened in the morning so were not available to us. We did do the sundowner walk (with Johnny - reassuring on the difficult bits and very informative) which we enjoyed but would have liked to go further and learn more.
The lodge was under interim management. Gregory was fine, helpful, friendly and welcoming but there was another character who was not very impressive and didn't seem to do anything very useful except tell tales about his laddish exploits.
Food good - very much in he mould of the Olive Grove where we'd spent our first night. Like others before us we'd have liked a second day if only for the walking." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

Pity they had a problem with the pool while we were there." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia

I understand they are completely re-furbishing next year so will have more sitting out room as the dining room was hot." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
We went on a guided evening walk, which was most enjoyable and the guide was very knowedgeable and good fun.
We were in the honeymoon suite! and we had a wonderful view from our camp." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

However, it was a lovely place to relax and we thorough enjoyed our stay here, and even more so when we were given free drinks for the two days because of the water problem!
We would encourage a stop here for a couple of days, if only to catch one's breath after the previous long drives and early mornings at Sesriem." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
Our room had a brilliant view - one of the best. I felt sorry for anyone in the room at the bottom of our walkway (No.7?) as it had a view of a spiky bush!
Main dining area had great views too and was very warm and friendly.
We had chance to use the pool, but this was not great - loads of insects floating in it and green stuff growing on the sides. No paving around it either - just dirt/sand. Bit scrappy.
They had trouble with the water supply while we were there and there was no water after our first afternoon. We wern't bothered about this and they did offer to take us to Omaruru to a room they had rented to have a shower, but it's a bit far, so we declined and just used water from a bucket that they brought. We also declined a free lunch to make up for the inconvenience, as we don't eat lunch.
We had a lovely early morning walk with Johnny, the guide. His knowledge of the area, animals and plants was excellent." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia
One of the main water pumps in Omaruru, which is where Erongo’s water is piped from, had broken, and its replacement contained some airblocks which had to be bled out of the pipe. As this took a few days, the back-up tank at the lodge therefore also ran out of water.
Guests were supplied with bottled water in their rooms to drink and water taken from the pool was used to flush the toilet. As water was taken from the pool, the water level dropped so the pump could not be used, and so the pool became rather dirty. In order to conserve water, the grass was not watered during this period and so went brown in the heat.
Lindy has assured us that the water situation is now back to normal, and full facilities have resumed in the rooms. The swimming pool is once again clear and blue, and the grass is now returning to its original colour.

Wonderful setting among huge boulders. Very good for birds difficult to see elsewhere (Hartlaub's Francolin, Rockrunner, Monteiro's Hornbill, Black Eagle etc.).
Also good views of Porcupine and lots of Rock Dassie.
Staff changed a flat tyre for us." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia
"Great stay at the Lodge."
Activities ie. am & pm walks great, friendly & knowledgeable staff. Wonderful views with a knowledgeable guide, need to be fit, fairly strenuous climbs! Owner/manager made a particular point to do a stargazing 1/2 hour, afternoon tea & cake was a nice touch.
Good food & catered well for vegetarians." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
