"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 3 Nov 2010
"A very good standard across the board, relaxed style and very welcoming.

The drive from Windhoek is not long or demanding, the activities are not too strenuous, so a good place to acclimatise at the start of the holiday." See all these reviews: 16n in Namibia

"Excellent location, service, food and walks.

Staying there and talking to the guide about his life, family, etc. as well as the wildlife and scenery proved a great introduction to Namibia and we only wished that we could have had a second night there (it had not been possible to organize this at the planning stage)." "Where?"

1 night Arrived 18 Oct 2010
"We were relieved to discover that the directions you had given us were for the wrong place as the Wilderness Lodge was much less of a detour from the road back to Windhoek!

We were looking forward to doing some walking here and made a point of arriving early in the afternoon but were only staying one night and found that the 'real' walks all happened in the morning so were not available to us. We did do the sundowner walk (with Johnny - reassuring on the difficult bits and very informative) which we enjoyed but would have liked to go further and learn more.

The lodge was under interim management. Gregory was fine, helpful, friendly and welcoming but there was another character who was not very impressive and didn't seem to do anything very useful except tell tales about his laddish exploits.

Food good - very much in he mould of the Olive Grove where we'd spent our first night. Like others before us we'd have liked a second day if only for the walking." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia

"We enjoyed our stay here - you very much feel that you are away in the wilderness! Staff were very friendly and there was a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The food was excellent - probably the best food of the whole holiday. The service was very efficient. The main lodge is a really lovely building.

We went on a guided evening walk, which was most enjoyable and the guide was very knowedgeable and good fun.

We were in the honeymoon suite! and we had a wonderful view from our camp." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

2 nights Arrived 24 Sep 2010
"We were looking forward to arriving at Eronga Wilderness Lodge to have some luxury, only to find that there was no water! It was a local problem and the owner had been out for two days helping to repair.

However, it was a lovely place to relax and we thorough enjoyed our stay here, and even more so when we were given free drinks for the two days because of the water problem!

We would encourage a stop here for a couple of days, if only to catch one's breath after the previous long drives and early mornings at Sesriem." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia

"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 22 Sep 2010
"Not far off the main road, but feels like you are so far from it all. Great location.

Our room had a brilliant view - one of the best. I felt sorry for anyone in the room at the bottom of our walkway (No.7?) as it had a view of a spiky bush!

Main dining area had great views too and was very warm and friendly.

We had chance to use the pool, but this was not great - loads of insects floating in it and green stuff growing on the sides. No paving around it either - just dirt/sand. Bit scrappy.

They had trouble with the water supply while we were there and there was no water after our first afternoon. We wern't bothered about this and they did offer to take us to Omaruru to a room they had rented to have a shower, but it's a bit far, so we declined and just used water from a bucket that they brought. We also declined a free lunch to make up for the inconvenience, as we don't eat lunch.

We had a lovely early morning walk with Johnny, the guide. His knowledge of the area, animals and plants was excellent." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia

"Very nice place to end tour.

Wonderful setting among huge boulders. Very good for birds difficult to see elsewhere (Hartlaub's Francolin, Rockrunner, Monteiro's Hornbill, Black Eagle etc.).

Also good views of Porcupine and lots of Rock Dassie.

Staff changed a flat tyre for us." See all these reviews: 18n in Namibia

"Great stay at the Lodge."

2 nights Arrived 3 Sep 2010
"Good accommodation, beautiful view, all bathroom facilities good. Friendly owners & staff. wonderful dining area looking out over rocky terrain, 2 open areas made it possible to see various bird & wildife.

Activities ie. am & pm walks great, friendly & knowledgeable staff. Wonderful views with a knowledgeable guide, need to be fit, fairly strenuous climbs! Owner/manager made a particular point to do a stargazing 1/2 hour, afternoon tea & cake was a nice touch.

Good food & catered well for vegetarians." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
