"Great stay at Erongo Wilderness Lodge"
Our tented rooms were very spacious with enormous balconies. One of them (room 10) was great for viewing the sunset.
We did a couple of activities organised by the lodge - a 3 hour early morning walk, and a sunset walk, but it would have been easy enough to walk on marked trails by yourself. However having a guide added immensely to the experience. Our guide, Gelasius, was very knowledgable about the trees and other plants.
There was plenty of bird life but we didn't see much other wildlife." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe
"Erongo Wilderness idyll"
"Our most favourite place. Ever. "
We were a little unsure when Sabina recommended including it as part of our itinerary as there are no obvious 'big draws' such as wildlife or famous desert scenery. But we are so glad we did. The tented lodges up in the hills feel as though you are in your own treehouse. They are utterly charming. The service was friendly and personal and the food was out of this world with a wine list that includes two served at Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee dinner.
Erongo Wilderness Lodge is like a little family up in the hills, one that takes you on walks over the rocks and feeds the dozens of horn bill, love birds and sparrows every morning before breakfast. We are going back." See all these reviews: 11n in Namibia
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
Beautiful tented lodges in a spectacular setting, and excellent guided walks. vegetarian food was not as good as last time (different manager then who personally looked up ideas on the internet for us!). Parts of the meals were for a vegetarian quite repetitive variations on tomato sauce.
However as a destination we would still highly recommend Erongo" See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia
"Great way to unwind at start of holiday"
Room very good.
Did a self guiding walk (baboon just over a 1 hour) which was enjoyable and gave a good vantage point of the lodge and the surroundings.
Staff again very helpful, as had problems with 4 way gang connection to recharge batteries etc." See all these reviews: 9n in Namibia; 3n in Botswana
"Erongo Wilderness Lodge review"
It was very hot (but we expected that) - no aircon. very good new manageress, but waiter service a bit erratic. Guides were very good and knowledgeable.
Morning walk strenuous and tiring. Guided drive to Bushman paintings outstanding. No good for animals - saw some mountain zebra in the distance." See all these reviews: 17n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe
"Great Lodge in incredible surroundings"
"Remote Lodge in stunning location"
The large tented room was very comfortable. Walks around the area provided some challenges both in terms of the steepness of some of the climbs but also the extreme heat after about 10am. The staff unobtrusive but helpful when needed
We saw very little game, but there was a considerable number and variety of birds around the Lodge.
Altogether a beautiful place for relaxation at the end of our travels round Namibia." See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia
"Hot & Humid"
The accomodation was comfortable and with a wonderful view. But we struggled to relax in our room as it was baking in the summer sun and with no air conditioning.
Erongo was hot and humid compared to other locations we stayed in and the activities were geared towards bird watching which we were not that interested in. But the food and the service was great." See all these reviews: 8n in Namibia
"Great bird viewing"
There was slight confusion with staff discussing the access to Paula's Cave to see the rock art, as our road map showed we could drive to it ourselves (not possible), but this did not ditract from a great stay.
We did try to find it initially, before driving around other parts of the conservency, looking for the other rock art marked on the map. This was at the AiAiba lodge. We saw springbok and 3 groups of baboons!
We made it back for the sundowner excursion, which was very enjoyable and had fantastic views. On Saturday morning, we went on an early morning excursion with Bony. This was also great fun, and we saw more baboons.
We only wish we could have spent more time relaxing on our balcony taking in the fantastic vista (although it was extremely hot)!" See all these reviews: 14n in Namibia; 6n in South Africa
