"We arrange many of our own trips as well as using travel services. We feel we got high value from the service provided by Megan at Expert Africa. She took loads of time to listen, consider our requirements and preferences. She made the suggestion that boosted our trip from good to great, hiring a private mobile guide service. Especially well done that it was Andrew. Top notch guiding was our priority. He met that and then some. He also makes a super camp, it truly defined "glamping"! We are going camping this weekend and we will laugh to think of no longer having a staff to wait on us and make camp!

The back and forth of the entire itinerary was time consuming, paring down stopovers, arranging guest houses. Megan was up to it and then some. She never failed to respond with timely, logical ideas. If we end up in London soon enough we'd love to stop at the office and shake her hand in thanks for her very professional, expedient work.

It was a trip of a lifetime, though we travel a lot. It bears now only great memories and nothing we would change. We have hundreds of fine photos that we are thoroughly enjoying. Carolyn's journal is loaded with entries describing our encounters, and sketches and paintings of the abundant beauty we shared.

Megan deserves a large Christmas bonus. At least a larger portion of plum pudding! We will refer our friends to you and use you again when Africa hits the travel calendar. "Four years age we went to similar camps (also at the end of March) and the wildlife was extraodinary. This year the wildlife was more touch-and-go. At all camps we could drive for several hours and see few animals, and then we would encounter many animals, similar to our 2014 experience. What we were did not realize was that the 2014 trip coincided with exceptional early water, and our 2018 trip was the normal dry period. Kanana was so dry that we could not use the boat, and were able to mokoro only in a single channel. Our 'satisfactory' ranking simply reflects picking the wrong time to visit. If this was our first visit we would have ranked the trip much higher.

Thank you for ensuring that all camps were aware of our food preferences. All camps worked to accomodate them. With the exception of Little Tubu, all camps served vegetarian rather than vegan meals. The meals at Little Tubu were incredibly delicious, and the chef is fantastic.

With the exception of Savute Safari Lodge, we enjoyed the diversity of lodges and experiences. Savute was a poor choice for us for five reasons: disregard for acceptable viewing of wildlife; excessive crowding of vehicles (we knew this was a national park, and anticipated seeing other cars, but not so many and so constantly); so-so guide (our guide sometimes made comments that indicated he was a knowledgeable guide, but he generally said little and rarely shared this knowledge); rodents in our rooms (which were otherwise very nice, and had wonderful porches); and overall a lower quality in food, service, and facilities, compared to our other camps." "Our safari adventure was part of a longer trip to Africa and was the highlight.

Having been fortunate enough to go on safari before staying in lodges I wanted an experience to bring me closer to the whole environment and maybe harking back to the original type of safari! The comfortable camping option was perfect! Real beds, a shower, a comfortable toilet ,good food and wine plus lions and hyenas in the camp!

"This was an excellent trip - a great way to celebrate Peter's 75th birthday. We were away for almost 5 weeks, visiting Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. We enjoyed every bit of the trip - The Hide and Hwange Bush Camp in Hwange; the mobile safari with David Carson in Botswana and our self-drive through Etosha in Namibia.

As usual the organisation from Expert Africa was perfect - with seamless transfers and bookings etc., all the arrangements spot on throughout the trip. And there were some unexpected and pleasant surprises - like finding that Andrew Dalzell was our guide again in Hwange and the unexpected upgrade to a luxury tent on the Botswana mobile safari.

"What made this trip so special was its diverse nature.

Our itinerary was a balance between adventure (self-drive in Botswana and the Caprivi Strip); land- and water-based game and bird viewing; history and culture. All of this using accommodation ranging from the rustic to the luxurious. We always felt comfortable, even in Zimbabwe which was really the wild card.

"We had a wonderful holiday in Southern Africa. There are so many memories- we tried to name our 'top 10 best moments' but it was impossible as each day offered something new and exciting. We will definitely be back to this lovely part of the world before too long.

"This was a varied and always interesting holiday. The camps suggested by Sarah provided contrasting experiences as to the differing types of camp, country and game.

We would certainly recommend anyone who is prepared to accept the relatively basic facilities of a mobile camp to spend some time with Andrew Harkness who was a relaxed, informative and very knowledgeable guide. We felt that nothing that could have been seen was missed.

The bush walk with Scoupe at Tau Pan was the highlight of our stay there.

The out of hours service was excellent when we ran into trouble with our flight from London on the outward journey as it was delayed by three hours putting our connection in Johannesburg at risk. As it happened we made it with seconds to spare. Nevertheless it was very reassuring to be able to speak to someone late at night even though we had made the booking ourselves." "We love this country. The people are so friendly. We felt very safe travelling around.

We learnt a few words of Setswana which was really appreciated.

This is a fascinating country, if you go ask about the history, Batswana are very proud of their country.

This trip was put together by Sarah Glyde who was very helpful, patient and knowledgeable.
