"A nice camp close to the park entrance"

3 nights Arrived 23 Sep 2015
"A nice camp with good access to the Chobe River section of the park, which is where huge herds of elephant and buffalo can be found.

However, this is not a wilderness lodge (you reach the park via a tarmac) road." See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana

"Muchenje Safari Lodge review"

2 nights Arrived 19 Sep 2015
"We really enjoyed the stunning views from the Lodge.

We particularly relished the combined game drive/river trip which gave close contact with such a huge variety of wildlife.

Among other spectacles we were treated to sightings of huge numbers of elephants, some very close up." See all these reviews: 12n in Namibia; 5n in Zambia; 2n in Zimbabwe; 2n in Botswana

"Muchenje's superb escarpment location"

3 nights Arrived 17 Sep 2015
"A wonderful location looking down on the huge herds of zebra, buffalo and other animals far below.

The boat trip on the Chobe river was memorable, getting so close to crocodiles (!), huge numbers of elephants, over 50 hippos out grazing in the middle of the day - we'd always believed they only left the water to graze after dark. Not to mention wonderful views of various water birds at close quarters. Also the wonderful lunch!

After the freedom of the game drives at Kwara , it was frustrating having to keep to the tracks in the National Park. On quite a number of occasions our guide/driver found spoor which he was not allowed to follow. Still no leopard!" See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana; 4n in Namibia; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Muchenje Safari Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 14 Sep 2015
"Loved this safari lodge. Again staff were delightful and our guide, Rambo, was excellent, patient and knowledgeable. We also enjoyed a very educative early morning walk with Paul. The owners were very helpful as well.

Only slight complaint was that the rooms didn't have much storage space so our bags had to be used as storage, too, which meant they were slightly in the way when the mosquito nets came down at night. If there had been more coat hangers I think we could have disposed more easily of them. But that's a minor complaint! The rest was excellent." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Excellent stay at Muchenje Safari Lodge"

3 nights Arrived 7 Sep 2015
"We had a great time at Muchenje. From the welcome to the goodbyes, it felt as if we were staying with friends. Robert and Joy, Natasha and John run everything perfectly.

Our room was very comfortable and well-equipped, with wonderful views. The dining room and bar were very welcoming and comfortable, again with the views across the river. Our guide, Synack, made our stay memorable, finding hordes of animals and birds. He was very knowledgable and informative. The boat-trip, the village visit and the walk were all as interesting as the game drives.

The food was excellent and the shared meals very convivial. Joy had noted that we were to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary later during our holiday and presented us with a card and a bottle of bubbly to mark the occasion, a lovely gesture, much appreciated.

Would definitely love to return, and would recommend to anyone visiting Chobe area." See all these reviews: 9n in Botswana

"Muchenje Safari Lodge review"

3 nights Arrived 4 Sep 2015
"This lodge is a one in a lifetime holiday venue, there was so much to see and do, and sometimes it's a little exhausting, we were out all the 3 days we were there and returned to the lodge usually about 6 pm, there was no flexibility with the evening meal and I found it a rush to be at the dinner table with everyone else for the comunial dining , all the staff were very knowledgable and the trips out fantastic. Nothing was to much trouble." See all these reviews: 3n in Botswana; 2n in Zambia; 1n in South Africa

"National Park experience at Muchenje Lodge"

2 nights Arrived 12 Aug 2015
"Nice camp but unfortunately not what we were expected after Kwara and Selinda Explorers.

As this is a lodge, rooms are real chalets and the camp is not in the middle of nature with animals going in and out the camp. More, the camp is quite big (around 10-12 chalets), which is not a must for intimacy.

Service was fine and staff was friendly. Special thanks to both Paul and Banyana who took care of us - Paul was not our guide but he proposed to organize a walking safari for us as he saw we were a little bit disappointed but the king of safaris available here (no off-road in the National Park, impossible to track predators, you have to stay on the road).

Overall, this is a good camp (rooms are big and clean, view is amazing, there is a swimming pool, wifi, etc.) but it's better to begin by a camp like this one rather than finish by it, especially when you went to private concessions before.

Game viewing is average, except for the cruise during which you can see elephants, hippos, buffalos and crocodiles very closely" See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe

"Great Collection of African Art and Craft"

2 nights Arrived 10 Jul 2015
"The cabins here are more substantial than some others with actual glass windows. This obviously meant they were warmer than others we stayed in. The beds and rooms were very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and capable. The food was good quality home cooking with good options. We saw a multitude of giraffes and lions here among other creatures. The last day on the drive along the river we also saw plenty of hippos and elephants and buffalo of course.

The managers have decorated this camp with some really beautiful sculptures and craft collected over the years and there are good options for purchase as well." See all these reviews: 6n in Botswana; 2n in Zimbabwe; 2n in Namibia
