Stone Town

Stone Town was constructed during the 19th century...

...and hasn’t changed much since then.

You can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean...

...and discover what remained...

...from its rich history.

Stone Town is something of a labyrinth...

...with small alleys that offer places to shop and eat.

The atmosphere is unique and romantic...

...and you can watch some beautiful sunsets over the ocean.

"The whole thing was superb"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 27 Sep 2008 and 12 Oct 2008
"The whole thing was superb - we couldn't have wished for more.

Suggestions for improvement:

There is simply no room for improvement !

I should just add that although we were told that the Emerson Green hotel was not as good as it used to be, we went for dinner there on our last night and it was excellent, so perhaps it is picking up again. We even had live music into the bargain !" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 9 on a Zanzibar holiday

"A fabulous safari"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 22 Sep 2008 and 7 Oct 2008
"The safari part of our trip was excellent. Pole Pole was a little disappointing - quality and too long at the resort. Expert Africa should not use Beyt al Chai until it is refurbished.

We are very impressed with Exprt Africa itself. All staff very helpful and concerned that we have an enjoyable holiday (which we did).

Information provided pre deprture very comprehensive and helpful. Terrific web-site which was one of the factors that convinced us to use EA. We really felt they knew what they were talking about." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 12 on a Tanzania safari

Both of the safari camps provided us with a most enjoyable stay and the visit to Zanzibar was a unique experience

"Aim Achieved"

I visited Zanzibar between 20 Sep 2008 and 5 Oct 2008
"We achieved everything we set out to do. 7 days of rest and idleness, followed by 7 days of researching my past ,from the age of a few months to about 4 years old., and going on Town, spice, forest and dhow tours.

The highlight was a visit to the extraordinarily well -organised Archives Office, where we were quickly able to read a full dossier on my father, who was Deputy Commissioner of Police 1926-1939, together with the record of some riots in 1936 when my father was injured.

We also identified two houses near the lawcourts, one of which must have been our home (one is now the Egyptian Consulate, and the other is a government office" Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Zanzibar holiday

"Wow what an experience"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 20 Sep 2008 and 5 Oct 2008
"This was a pretty special trip for us - taking our three grown up sons and their other halves on safari and then onto Zanzibar. The excitement and joy everyone experienced was worth every penny we spent.

The trip was talior made to our requirements thanks to Expert Africa. Every aspect of the holiday was discussed - recommendations made - our likes and dislikes taken into account - suggestions adjusted to fit the budget set . I cannot praise them highly enough.

They could not have picked a better camp for us to stay in . We will never forget the thrill of finding a leopard and the priveldge of being able to sit quietly for over an hour observing her - following her every now and then. And then there were the lion pride with their youngsters - playing with each other and their parents - watching a male lion gently licking and nuzzling his son. All this from about five feet away.

Wild life wandered in and out of camp during the night and the sounds were magical as we lay in our huge beds in luxurious tents.
'There was nothing about the holiday that wasnt good - even being chased by an elephant we put down to experience - because we trusted our guides and rangers to help us out of danger.

we have almost 2,000 photos between us to recapture every moment and relive the experience all over again.
Zanzibar - total chill out - total removal from the reality of day to day life at home. And the snorkelling - wow!!

So thank you Expert Africa - I will definetley be recommending you to anyone who is thinking of a trip to africa.

"East Africa - what a great place for safari"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 20 Sep 2008 and 7 Oct 2008
"Our trip was incredible; a trip of a lifetime which was exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon.

The trip was really well balanced between safari (6 days/2 camps) and beach (8 days) - altough we could very easily have done another 2 or 3 days safari at the end, having had a short break from it to recuperate!

Suggestions for improvement:

The advice we were given was excellent and the trip was great!" Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zanzibar holiday

"A first visit to Africa"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 13 Sep 2008 and 26 Sep 2008
"All of the help we received from Expert Africa was of the highest standard and sent us on our trip with great confidence.

Just a couple of points. We did not realise how tiring the safari travel would be between camps especially to Tarangire and we feel that visitors should be strongly advised to stay there for 3 nights. Also on returning from Tarangire to go to Zanzibar we flew from Manyara to Arusha, with hindsight we feel it would have been better to have travelled by road to Arusha.

Finally, Fishermans tours were also excellent. We booked a tour to a spice farm and also atour around Stone town. Our Guide around Stone Town, Kassim, was excellent. Informative and helpful and of the same high standard of guides that we had received all the trip

Suggestions for improvement:

Could you please provide a map of area that we are to visit ?

"Selous, Ruaha and Zanzibar - magical!"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 6 Sep 2008 and 21 Sep 2008
"A fantasitc trip. I really can't fault it.

Beautiful and contrasting places to stay with universally friendly staff and amazing wildlife encounters that I'm sure we will still be talking about in many years to come!

Extremely efficient organisation meant all we had to do was enjoy! Thinking of our next trip already!

Thank you.
