"Great place to stay."
"Our first ever safari at Nsefu"
We were incredibly lucky to see a huge variety of wildlife both close to the river and in the bush, no doubt down to the skills of our wonderful guide Pius.
We also experienced the amazing sight and sound of elephants walking around the camp at night eating the leaves in front of us as we sat in the dark on the veranda in front of our room." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia
"Just like coming home - to Nsefu"
The guiding with Kanga is excellent and the camp is well-managed by Ruth and Sebastian (with his dry sense of humour and telling insights into human and animal behaviour,). We had fabulous leopard sightings, shared sundowners with a curious lion cub (before retreating to the vehicle in case Mum came back from hunting) and woke in the night to the gentle rustling of 5 elephants outside our room as they “hoovered up” the fallen leaves.
On the last day, a scheduled bush walk was abandoned as the cry went up that “the wild dogs have just run through camp” and we rushed to the vehicle to follow them. This is the time the carmen bee-eaters build their nesting colony on the riverbank and the sight of so many beautiful blue and red birds was truly marvellous." "The ultimate safari experience!"
Whilst at Nsefu,we were fortunate to see a number of " live Kills", although not a pleasant experience, they reflected how nature provides the animals with a food chain. We were very fortunate to have an experience involving a Leopard and her young cub try to have a meal from an Impala killed earlier, only to be warned off by a pack of Hyenas who in turn saw of a pack of wild dogs only to be confronted by 5 or 6 lions who took one look at the scene and went on their way. Julius and his sidekick Richard, who was the torch man as it was night time, decided to follow the lions and we were on the scene when they trapped and killed an Impala.
During our safari experience we saw a Leopard climb a tree with his/her pray (yet another Impala) and scenes involving a baby Hippo being devoured by Lions and Hyenas and followed by the vultures etc. Other Kills included a Buffalo, although we arrived after the poor animal had been killed so we did not witness this event. Many experiences were achieved in the 3 camps which exceeded our expectations- we could not have had a better Safari experience. One of our fellow travellers who had had many years experience on Safari said we were extremely fortunate to have experienced so much on our first Safari - Thanks to all at Robin Pope Safaris-Zambia!" "More great days at Nsefu"
We had more great game drives, the highlights were the carmine bee eaters on the river bank and seeing so many leopards.
Nsefu's rooms are not as spacious as Nkwali's but they are still very comfortable and well looked after. The views are different as well and not quite as intimate." See all these reviews: 14n in Zambia
"Lovely Setting"
Ruth the camp manager is also lovely and very accommodating.
Fun to be able to eat all meals outside by the river." See all these reviews: 6n in Malawi; 5n in Botswana; 5n in Zambia
"Nsefu - our favourite location"
The continued absence of the dining shelter was not a problem as we ate under the stars every night. (A torch is useful if you want to have a good look at your food before eating it - as the table lights are atmospherics rather than illuminating). We were delighted to be reunited with our guide Kanga and cannot thank him enough for the excellent guiding that he provided. We were also pleased to have Fanton as our (super) spotter as we knew him from a previous visit.
Every drive revealed something new including Pel's fishing owl, carmine bee-eaters, eland, a honey badger and porcupines - all good long views. Thanks also to Sebastian for his morning drive and the search for the "wooden bananas". We really appreciated the fact that both Kanga and Sebastian were willing to do the long drive to/from the salt pan.
It was a wonderful stay." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia
"excellent stay in Nsefu"
We had a wonderful time with Sebastiaan and William is an excellent spotter.
The (long) walks were partly difficult because off dryed- out lagoons. We had to walk carefully and could hardly look around." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia
"Nsefu was fabulous"
We felt very special here. A particular highlight was the bush breakfast at the end of our walking safari.
