"Great time at Mwamba Bushcamp our 2nd visit"

"Excellent start to our honeymoon!"

3 nights Arrived 12 Aug 2008
"I loved the fact that half of the roof was netting which meant we could lie in bed and look up at the moon and trees. I thought it gave a great feeling of being close to nature. I also liked the impermanence of the camp - the fact that it is rebuilt every season means it is natural and made out of local materials. I also thought that the location of the camp by the Mwamba river was great as it meant that, for example, one lunch time we were joined by 9 giraffes on the other side of the river and another time baboons came right into camp.

The local staff were truly hospitable and friendly - we could have asked for better. I thought that though very new to the job, Annabelle was an excellent hostess - charming, helpful and sociable in all the right amounts. The quantity and quality of the game on show was also superb. Mayam was a fantastic guide who knew the area like the back of his hand." See all these reviews: 13n in Zambia

"Mwamba Camp - great place"

1 night Arrived 31 Jul 2008
"We had the privilege to be the only couple here with the senior guide Patrick, who has worked with the Shentons for over 15 years. He is the most delightful person as well as being extraordinarily gifted as a guide.

Even with a full camp, it would feel exclusive and quiet and relatively remote.

We had one of the most remarkable night-drives one could imagine, with everything from leopards and lions to genets and hyenas and mongoose and owls and nightjars." See all these reviews: 15n in Zambia

"Mwamba Bush Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 18 Jul 2008
"Wow! What can I say - absolutely amazing bush camp - utterly enchanting! It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Really small, really intimate, with the nicest staff and atmosphere you could possibly imagine - truly unique! See above re our guide and game in this area - fantastic!

We saw everything we could possibly want and more. it actually became a joke, because whatever we asked for, our guide found! On the last evening, we joked with him that we wanted to see a leopard kill, with hyenas circling the leopard, and then lions coming after the lot of them - guess what - it happened!!" "Camp fire chats at Mwamba"

3 nights Arrived 23 Oct 2007
"Mwamba is a smaller camp to Kaingo but more intimate. Gail was a good host and had some great stories to tell. Ian, our guide, was knowledgeable and on both nights I was there found us a lion kill to watch on the night drive. Food was excellent and I enjoyed the chats afterwards by the campfire." "Mwamba Bush Camp review"

2 nights Arrived 19 Oct 2007
"A very comfortable and interesting two days and nights at a camp which is perfectly located for game viewing, even when you are sitting outside your hut or having lunch. I liked the after-drive breakfasts very much.

Although the viewing was very much centred around the lions in the area we saw a great deal of the other wildlife with a wonderful walk to Kaingo Camp through the Fairy Tale Ebony Forest to finish off." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia; 8n in Zanzibar

"What a great little gem in the bush!"

Huts are terrific and stood up to close encounters with munching elephants. Everything we said about Kaingo applies here." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"One night in the bush"

1 night Arrived 12 Sep 2007
"We were pleased to have only spent one night at Mwamba. We were probably depressed at leaving Tena and too excited about seeing Derek and Jules at Kaingo to settle in properly.

The camp was wonderful, though the Caterer, Gale, came across as more of a guest than a member of staff. This is not a criticism, merely an observance." See all these reviews: 9n in Zambia

"Sausage tree at Mwamba"

4 nights Arrived 1 Sep 2007
"Many of the comments above for Kaingo apply here. Gail was a welcoming and attentive hostess (we caught her on her first day in the job!) Jimmy served us with a constant smile. Our accommodation (Sausage tree) was great being next to the hide and with a great view of the river bed.

A wonderful picnic lunch on the banks of the Luangwa was arranged for our last day (same spot as last year). The walks to (with Patrick) and from (with Ian) Mwamba were, as ever, very enjoyable - two good leopard sightings on the way back. Terry and Gideon again provided excellent scouting and spotting."
