"Pioneer"

1 night Arrived 10 Oct 2012
"Accommodation good, but the access road for the last couple of miles is worse than the tracks in the bush

Handy for the airport, and they were very helpful with check-in, etc." See all these reviews: 10n in Zambia

"We stayed one night at Pioneer en route from Mana Pools to Livingstone. We were made very welcome by the staff and would certainly recommend it for a short stay handy for the airport." See all these reviews: 8n in Zimbabwe; 3n in Zambia

"Pioneer Camp is like a bush camp but on the outskirts of Lusaka. A good overnight stop-off on route from the airport to a safari holiday.

Bird life at dawn was fantastic." See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia

"Pioneer Camp Review"

1 night Arrived 1 Jul 2012
"Transfers were good.

We were provided with inferior accommodation to what was booked due to an error. Although clean it was very basic and not of a standard we would normally book. The manager was very apologetic about the error and he is still in discussion with Expert Africa about this matter.

Strange service with the food which had be pre-ordered at check in and when we were called to the table the food already sitting there getting cold." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Pioneer Camp review"

1 night Arrived 10 Jun 2012
"A cheerful place for 1 night stop before flying back to UK. Our 4th visit and Paul continues to expand the number and comfort of the chalets.

There is now good light and the bathrooms are enormous. Food remains indifferent with little choice, simple quality and breakfast only just provided in time for flight." See all these reviews: 11n in Zambia

"Pioneer Camp review"

1 night Arrived 22 Oct 2011
"Pioneer gave a very comfortable, clean and safe stopping point before and after my safari in South Luangwa.
Efficient transfers (22mins), Paul(manager) and Alfred(assistant) are friendly and helpful. The steaks are good and the breakfast more than adequate.

Pioneer is not 5 star, but it does not advertise as so. This is a bridge into Africa and a easing back down to earth after any up market trip into South Luangwa. In any case if you want a 5 star hotel in Lusaka - good luck!
Paul also arranges on line check in.

No fuss here, straight forward accommodation, retain the look and feel of Africa.
Sometimes, some interesting clients, if you're sociable by nature, even more reason to stay. If you want to shut yourself away then head for the concrete jungle of Lusaka!

Thank you to everyone at Pioneer, striving to improve even further." See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia
