"From the research we had done beforehand, we had high expectations of both Shenton Safaris and Chiawa camp. Both exceeded our expectations.

The locations were spectacular, the wildlife encounters outstanding and the standard of accommodation, service and hospitality first class.

The abiding memory of this holiday will, of course, be the wildlife. We were fortunate enough to see many memorable things including: several successful hunts by lions, 2 prides of lions disputing territory and a kill, leopards, large herds of buffalo and elephants at (very) close quarters, etc, etc. Due to the locations of the camps being deep within the National Park(s), none of these sightings were shared with large numbers of tourists. At no time were the lions outnumbered by the tourists and on the vast majority of occasions ours, with 6 guests, was the only vehicle present; there were never more than 2 vehicles at any sighting at the same time.
This was a truly memorable experience, our thanks go to all who made it possible.

We really can't fault it, many thanks for your help." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zambia safari

"We are indeed home safely after a wonderful holiday. Logistically, it was perfect; flights on time, terminal guides appeared when required and performed as necessary. The four lodges could not be faulted for accommodation, food and hospitality and all contributed to the holiday which was advertised.

Let me finish by re-iterating that Jeanne and I have had a wonderful holiday and would like to thank you for your efforts which made it happen." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 10 on a Zambia safari

"Another excellent trip"

I visited Zambia between 24 Sep 2010 and 14 Oct 2010
"Our fourth trip with you and another magnificent holiday in a different country - we're very impressed you can provide consistent excellence over a range of varying trips and destinations. Lucy gave us very good advice on both the camp selection and the balance of the trip (gently refuting a couple of our ideas - you were right!)

Our very positive impression of the company was further enhanced when Ellie came up and introduced herself at Lusaka airport having by chance spotted the luggage labels - many would have just kept there heads down and got on with their own business.

We met many not travelling with you who had admired/used your website but then gone elsewhere and had some minor issues - we suspect some will soon become clients..." Read full review: 20 nights in Africa; 19 on a Zambia safari

"Wonderful Trip"

I visited Zambia between 31 Jul 2010 and 13 Aug 2010
"Zambia was everything we had hoped for.

The walking was very good. The camps were all small and well run. The experience was unforgettable.

In addition to the superb wildlife viewing, we also enjoyed the atmosphere at the camps. All of the hosts were very friendly and helpful.

Maruska was a great help in planning the trip. We particularly enjoyed being in the bush rather then at a big lodge. It was the perfect experience for us.

"A safari with a difference"

I visited Zambia between 25 Jul 2010 and 7 Aug 2010
"Both South Lauangwa and Lower Zambezi are stunningly beautiful. The camps we visited gave us a nice mix of locations and options for game viewing. We especially loved the after dark activity and got some of our best sightings in the eveining including Aardvark and African wild cat.

I have more mixed feelings about the bush walks. For photographic reasons and the video I take, I do like to get as close as possible to the animals. Bush walking is about a different experience and is very enjoyable but will not get you close to the animals. When time is limited it takes careful planning to get a comfortable balance and that is not always available. For example In small bush camps they may not have the resources to meet all expectations so you can find yourself doing a bush walk even when you may have wanted to go on a drive. Whilst the quantity of wildlife may not be as prolific as that say in Kenya the big advantage that Zambia has over the Masi Mara for example is that you are unlikely to have to fight for a sighting with lots of other trucks. There is plenty of space.

Personally it was not so much the quality of guiding that stood out, though it is excellent, but the warmth of the Zambian people. All the staff we met loved what they do and will always go the extra mile to make it special for you. Treat them with respect and they will respect you.

This was our third trip with Expert Africa. Given the turbulence in the travel arrangements due to the BA strikes I cannot speak highly enough of the way in which Claire picked up ( when Anna left) our holiday booking and very efficiently finalised the arraangements.

The whole holiday worked smoothly and was a real pleasure from start to finish." Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 12 on a Zambia safari
