My Oct 2010 trip
Zambia between 3 Oct 2010 and 14 Oct 2010
"From the research we had done beforehand, we had high expectations of both Shenton Safaris and Chiawa camp. Both exceeded our expectations.
The locations were spectacular, the wildlife encounters outstanding and the standard of accommodation, service and hospitality first class.
The abiding memory of this holiday will, of course, be the wildlife. We were fortunate enough to see many memorable things including: several successful hunts by lions, 2 prides of lions disputing territory and a kill, leopards, large herds of buffalo and elephants at (very) close quarters, etc, etc. Due to the locations of the camps being deep within the National Park(s), none of these sightings were shared with large numbers of tourists. At no time were the lions outnumbered by the tourists and on the vast majority of occasions ours, with 6 guests, was the only vehicle present; there were never more than 2 vehicles at any sighting at the same time.
This was a truly memorable experience, our thanks go to all who made it possible.
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
We really can't fault it, many thanks for your help."

"A small and intimate camp with a truly 'bush' feel. The wildlife viewing was fantastic, with elephants & lions seen from (and in!) the camp.
The traditional reed and thatch huts gave a feel of authenticity whilst still providing the necessary creature comforts.
Our guide, Patrick, was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly and made the most of each of the many wildlife encounters. The pleasant and attentive staff looked after us extremely well, we really enjoyed our time here."

Chiawa Camp
"5-Star Safari"

"Our arrival by boat along the Zambezi was a suitably impressive introduction to this outstanding camp and its stunning location. The greeting from our hosts, Steve and Lyn, was warm and welcoming and their friendly, good-humoured presence and attention to detail was in evidence throughout our stay.
The accommodation (to call it a 'tent' redefines the meaning of the word) was luxurious beyond expectation; the staff, service and food outstanding.
A wide range of water and land-based activities were available. We particularly enjoyed the walks, with elephant encounters, guided by Paul who has a truly encyclopaedic knowledge and the ability to impart that knowledge in an accessible and interesting way.
This was a truly memorable, luxurious and relaxing way to end our holiday in Africa."

Thanks to Derek, Jules, Ian, Izzy et al, for being so welcoming."
