My Dec 2024 trip
Kenya between 17 Dec 2024 and 24 Dec 2024
"The fact that we were already thinking of when we can return to this amazing continent halfway through our trip speaks volumes.
We hope to be back sooner rather than later, thanks for helping to be a part of our dream trip!"

Northern White Rhinos visit
"Northern White Rhinos visit review"
19 Dec 2024 • All-day excursion
Quality time with the northern white rhinos, getting up close and personal with them - didn't expect to get so close to them but they are sociable and comfortable with humans.
Safari in Nairobi National Park
"Safari in Nairobi National Park review"
24 Dec 2024 • Morning excursion
Lost track of the amount of black and white rhinos we saw (about 15-20), which was even a record for our driver-guide.
Just a shame about the railway line that cuts through the heart of the park but hopefully any disturbances to wildlife would be remedied with time and care.

Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit
"Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit review"
24 Dec 2024 • Morning excursion
Nice and relaxing visit to support a good cause, even if it can be busy with the crowds (for good reason).
Nairobi Giraffe Centre visit
"Nairobi Giraffe Centre visit review"
24 Dec 2024 • Afternoon excursion
Nice to get up close and personal with the Nubian (Rothschild) giraffes, even if it can get busy (for good reason).
We truly enjoyed having practically every wildlife sighting to ourselves (bar 2-4 vehicles at two evening sundowners with lions), and was well taken care of by every single member of staff. We thought the guiding and spotting was of a good standard, as they not only tried to understand our expectations initially but also adjusted very quickly to what we wanted (spoken and unspoken), such as taking cues from our body language and eye movements in terms of viewing wildlife, taking photos and the amount of time we would like to spend with wildlife while also turning off the engine at appropriate times.
In terms of what could be improved - very minor point not related to our experiences where in instances where the camp is booked out, I hope they have enough vehicles for everyone as the 4WDs are seven seaters - meaning that the last row seats three and the person in the middle might not have the best experience (also highlighted by Expert Africa in their review of the camp). We elected to go for the bush walk (complimentary), though due to the fact that there are no armed guards (also mentioned by Expert Africa) meant that it was quite limited in terms of where one could go which limits the experience, but the effort from the camp was much appreciated.
Shoutout to all the camp staff, even if we couldn't get or recall everyone's names. Our guide John, spotter Kevin, camp manager Edwin were top notch, along with the rest of the team that fed us, heated up our water for showers, made our rooms, escorted us back to our tents nightly. We will remember everything and everyone very fondly for the rest of our lives.
Things I wish I knew - most hairdryers don't work due to electricity currently being supplied by a generator, but Edwin did mention that they have placed an order for lithium batteries and solar panels which should be coming in sometime in the first half of this year."
