My Oct 2023 trip
Kenya between 21 Oct 2023 and 3 Nov 2023
Every component was top drawer -- pre-trip info, the accommodations, meals, guides, service, schedule -- even the animals all cooperated!
Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:
As a non-drinker, I wonder how much of my cost was allocated towards alcohol.
A non-alcohol pricing option might be something to consider for guests who'd agree not to indulge."
Feedback response
This traveller made an interesting point: the more expensive safari camps invariably include local beer, house wines and standard spirits in their rates. However, these components are only a small fraction of the total costs of running a camp in the bush. Moderate drinkers also point out that their costs are lower than those of enthusiastic drinkers. We'd encourage all guests to request the drinks they prefer in advance, or on arrival, which include limitless soft drinks, fresh fruit juices, non-alcoholic cocktails and hot drinks.

Staff was fun & friendly. A delightful beginning to our adventure.
Kicheche Mara
"Kicheche Mara review"
Caring staff truly concerned with our having a WONDERFUL experience.
Food was AMAZING -- quality, taste, presentation.
Even the nighttime guards were helpful, willing to take me for star gazing & night photography.
I was so shocked at the beauty of my tent accommodations."
Kicheche Bush Camp
"Kicheche Bush Camp review"
Staff went way beyond normal excellence to provide Maasai entertainment, safari walk guide, help with a Halloween surprise, and even allowed me to ride a motorcycle.
Lodging was fantastic too, although the king bed mattress (in Sambuyu? Name might be incorrect) is a bit worn out. Might just need to be flipped.
Prices in gift shop were very good, and several of us purchase items, especially Kicheche caps."
The Emakoko
"The Emakoko review"
My room/cottage was extravagant and glamorous, accessed by a funicular. How fun is that?!
Staff said we needed to keep screens shut to keep out monkeys. Very true -- and they should emphasize latching the screen door. Fortunately I had just latched mine when a troop of olive baboons arrived. They persistently tried to get into my room and I could not get them to leave my veranda for over 45 min. It was pretty unnerving. But now it's just a fun photo op.
Upon our request, drivers took a couple of us to a glass studio and a craft store, which we really enjoyed."
The swimming pool was fabulous, as was the included morning breakfast buffet.
A bit more drinking water provided in the room would be welcome."
