"What a lovely place! The natural beauty of your surroundings are the first impact that greets you.
There is a natural empathy with the design of the main common area and the tents to their surrounds. And even the exhausting 60 odd steps up and down from the tents….leaving this 82 year old biddy panting!…. were worth the total adventure.
Our host Phillip dressed in Masai traditional costume added a sense of of place, current and past. Our Guide and Ranger accompanied us on difficult game drives in search of animals that had vanished due to the serious draught.
We saw elephants and giraffes, but none of the large cats. Though we heard them at night prowling the area under our tents."

"Very glamorous….super tents with great interior design features and warm welcoming staff. Could not fault it in any way.
Our Guide, Samuel not only read all the signs and took us to immediate sites where cheetahs had just completed a kill…he also photographed each encounter with a super colossal camera supplied by our hosts.
Included in our stay was a bush dinner out in the Masai Mara under the stars, magic for us all. And details like my 11 year old Grandson’s football match with local kids and staff added immensely to a sense belonging if only briefly to the local community.
We left with sadness and lots of hugging."

Safari in Maasai Mara National Reserve
"Safari in Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya review"
27 Oct 2022 • All-day excursion
Because they had previously had some light rain the game drives showed the abundance of animals. Plus the terrain was vast and accommodated a larger range of species.
Unfair to compare the areas due to the draught

"The lodges were built ten years or so ago and unfortunately, though my daughter’s lodge was cool, mine was orientated to preserve the heat. Opening the glass terrace doors was a relief and an invitation to curious monkeys and other wildlife who through time have become charmingly familiar. Here, I longed for a screen door. But that paled into insignificance with the charm of our Host and his knowledge of Kenya. The staff were attentive and kind.
Our Guide, Elizaban took us on game drives where we saw masses of Ostrich and our only rhino. Visiting also the Elephant Orphanage and the Giraffe Center….both place’s unmissable for children. But more than that, we were treated to the feeding of a newly born Giraffe which our Host had collected after it had been found abandoned and mutilated by some human. We were impressed by the gentle humanity this very young Giraffe was being shown.
There is nothing superficial to the commitment that our Host has for all his undertakings, it was impressive. As were his staff. Elizaban even attempting to teach Balthasar and Octavia to drive the Suzuki….to their utter joy and delight! Out of the three camps we stayed in, their Chef was definitely the winner."

Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit
"Nairobi Elephant Orphanage visit review"
29 Oct 2022 • Morning excursion
Wonderful introduction to maintaining a balance between the human and other animal species.
And how important it is for elephants to survive in that world.
