My Dec 2022 trip
Namibia between 14 Dec 2022 and 6 Jan 2023
It was always a bit of a risk going back to a country that we had previously visited and loved, but this trip was even better."

Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch
"Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch review"
It is the place to see meerkats up close in namibia, and also a nice place for a night drive.
The food is also very good."
Fish River Lodge
"Fish River Lodge review"
Swimming between the cliffs in the clear waters was very special."
Eagle's Nest
"Eagle's Nest review"
I tried barbecuing oryx kebabs.
The absolutely spectacular views and the drive down to luderitz was also fantastic."
Kwessi Dunes
"Kwessi Dunes review"
Kwessi was lovely, and the rooms fantastic, although being just opened, was still working out some minor teething issues - in particular with regards to the on site activities. That said, this was still one of our favourite places.
Sleeping out under the stars with the milky way, watching the animals coming to the water hole with an epic backdrop and messing around in the surrounding apricot coloured dunes was a whole lot of fun.
Kwessi is also a good base for the ballooning over the desert and for a visit to sossusvlei itself"

22 Dec 2022 • Morning excursion
If your budget stretches to it- this is a must do.
A very smoothly run operation over some of the most scenic landscapes in the world, followed by a champagne breakfast in the desert.
The Delight
"The Delight review"
We loved dinner at the tug. Swakopmund is also a great base for adventure in its own right.
We kayaked with seals this trip and offroaded through the dunes down to sandwich harbour on our previous visit."
Camp Kipwe
"Camp Kipwe review"
There is also a sundowner spot at the top of the boulder hill that gives great 360 views.
We loved the desert elephant tour too along the huab river. This was pure bbc wildlife documentary stuff in real life and our guide ziggy was very good.
Stunning scenery. Twfellfontain is also very close by, which is worth a quick visit."
Kayaking with seals

25 Dec 2022 • Morning excursion
We also had a bottlenose dolphin group come and visit too.
This was a great professional setup.
Grootberg Lodge
"Grootberg Lodge review"
However it is worth pointing out that it is a locally run conservancy, and as such, more basic than the other places that we stayed at. This was a bit of a shock at the beginning, but we quickly acclimatized.
Grootberg also had the most spectacular sundowner spot. We went rhino tracking here with my 11 year old son and we were very succesful, sneaking up close to 3 black rhino. This was a long day though, crossing some very rugged terrain."
Safarihoek Lodge
"Safarihoek Lodge review"
We were tracking elephant, rhino and lion and finding plenty of them all with our guide Mike, (who was great). Etosha heights shares a 75km border with etosha, where the fence is open in many places. This has allowed the game to migrate into the private reserve and they are now here in large numbers.
We had a great time here and saw masses of animals, (including 14 rhino in 2 days), and would even recommend that if you are limiting your number of safari days, that you come here over Etosha itself."
Onguma Bush Camp
"Onguma Bush Camp review"
We visited in rainy season, so were concerned that we would not see much game. We need not have worried, we saw lots of elephants, rhino and lion and were lucky enough to witness a successful cheetah hunt with her cubs.
We also arranged a special bush dinner at onguma, which was a great experience. A private bbq feast dinner set up in the middle of the bush just for us."
Omaanda
"Omaanda review"
The private reserve has lots of white rhino, that we approached on foot, and some elephant and lion. The food was also excellent. I would however recommend that this is more of a 1 night stop before flying than 2 night, unless you just want to laze by the pool for a couple of days in, at must be said, great luxury.
I would not recommend the carnivore feeding activity that they offer at the nearby reserve. This was literally just watching someone chucking chicken carcasses over an electric fence."
My Jan 2018 trip
Namibia between 2 Jan 2018 and 16 Jan 2018
Thankyou very much, we are very grateful for the best holiday!"

Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch
"Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch review"
only comment is that they tried to downgrade us to a standard room when we arrived and only put us into the dune chalet once we insisted that this is what we had paid for."
Wolwedans Desert Lodge

Kulala Desert Lodge
"Kulala Desert Lodge review"
Guides offered nothing, so in effect a glorified shared taxi.
otherwise, recommend sleeping out under the stars on the roof."
The Delight

certainly recommend turnstone tours to sandwich harbour- excellent"
Spitzkoppen Lodge
"Spitzkoppen Lodge review"
Only comment is that they should offer some of the more classical activities such as sundowners on the property.
Otherwise excellent"

Okonjima Plains Camp
"Okonjima Plains Camp review"
The leopard tracking itself feels a little contrived if you are used to the real thing though."
Galton House
Straight onto gravel roads from the airport, we had a large male kudu jump in front of us just 5mins out of the airport!
Good food and a relaxing place to be."
