Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park.

It offers guided walking safaris...

...where you might spot some of the park’s fantastic birdlife...

...as well as a good amount of wildlife.

Ruaha is known for its dramatic scenery, including rolling hills...

...and open plains with skeletal baobab trees.

Ruaha’s wild and untrammelled feel sets it apart from other reserves.

"2 weeks in Tanzania"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 26 Sep 2010 and 10 Oct 2010
"In general the trip was brilliant. All went to plan so well done Expert Africa.

We do this sort of thing every 2 to 3 years so we will be in touch next time.

I could not fault anything. The wrong place in Stone Town was my fault for turning down the Serena Inn." Read full review: 14 nights in Africa; 8 on a Zanzibar holiday

"southern safari"

I visited Tanzania between 25 Sep 2010 and 8 Oct 2010
"Going to Ruaha first was better in terms of internal flights (especially for someone who gets travel sick). If we had realised how far away Jongomero was from the plains in Ruaha, we would have done two camps here instead of in the Selous (as these are all close together). This meant that we did not get a chance to see cheetah, which I had specifically enquired about. This in addition to our experience at Selous Impala camp, slightly marred our experience, but in general, it was as we expected.

There were no night drives in the Selous, contrary to what I was told.

There is apparently now an early morning flight to Dar from Selous which connects to the BA flight, obviating the need for an overnight stay in Sar.

"First Safari"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 23 Sep 2010 and 8 Oct 2010
"We went on this holiday with very high expectations. In all cases those expectations were met and were generally exceeded. The information we received from Expert Africa was accurate and timely. We will use you again, and recommend you to our friends.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

We got such good personal advice from Ellie that we hardly looked at the promotional literature. The information pack was excellent and dealt with everything we needed to know.

just one point about Zanzibar. We were recommended to take US$. in fact this was unnecessary. The shops and hotel were all just as happy with the local currency and applying the exchange rates they were quoting, paying in US$ was an expensive option. The museums were all happy with local currency too and there was no saving involved in paying in US$. Please review this recommendation." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 9 on a Tanzania safari

"Wonderful African safari"

I visited Tanzania between 21 Sep 2010 and 1 Oct 2010
"From the moment of contacting Expert Africa we felt in very good hands, Ellie was wonderful and sorted out the perfect safari holiday for us. Her recommendations turned out to be the perfect combination and we are still 'coming down' from the whole experience.

For us Africa is a magical place, and the whole tented safari experience exceeded our expectations totally. We will be back to talk to you again! Thank you.

"Fab time in Tanzania"

I visited Tanzania between 11 Sep 2010 and 24 Sep 2010
"We had never been to Tanzania or done a Safari holiday before. We absolutely loved it and will definitely want to do another safari holiday in the future to Africa.

Both Selous and Ruaha were amazing places to get really close to the animals and the scenery was breathtaking. We would also like to thank Liz Wollen and Eleanor Dunkels at Expert Africa who spent a lot of time talking us through the different camps and locations. Their help was immeasurable and their advice was spot on. Our trip ran like clockwork and their recommendations were superb. Overall we had a fantastic time and would highly recommend it.

"A really great trip"

I visited Tanzania between 9 Sep 2010 and 24 Sep 2010
"We put this into our top three holidays - but we're not sure what the other two might be! We were delighted with our choice of camps which we alighted upon after full answers to our detailed questions: which suggests to us that you made a good effort at trying to understand what we were looking for (and made us think about what we really wanted).

Beho Beho managed to create a really welcoming safari house party atmosphere (probably helped by the fact that the owner's mother "Mrs B" was staying). Seasoned safari folk might find it a little too sanitised and soft but we enjoyed it all the same.

Kwihala really does deserve a higher profile. it's not the poshest but it's for real, in a genuine piece of wilderness. Pietro was really enthusiastic. He really has a passion for lions which, perhaps almost got in the way of the wider safari experience such as simply stopping and looking at the "normal" wildlife. Also chasing the lions meant that breakfast and lunch almost went forgotten. Now, we know that nothing is predictable in the field but it did mean that on a couple days the gap between lunch and dinner was almost indigestably short.

Pole Pole was a complete downshift in pace, and a totally welcome one too. All services were delivered faultlessly and effortlessly. The atmosphere in the village was good too." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Tanzania safari

"We finally made it to Selous!"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 14 Aug 2010 and 5 Sep 2010
"We have been working on this trip for years - and it lived up to every expectation. Great variety of accommodation, excellent game viewing and a bit of swimming at the end. We have already discussed the possibility of going back.

Thank you to all at Expert Africa who have had input to this over the years - Chris, Claire, Penny, Liz and Ellie.

"Ruaha Selous safari"

I visited Tanzania between 10 Aug 2010 and 22 Aug 2010
"Excellent. Pick ups from/to flights on time and well organised

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Sort out the luggage allowance and make sure the information in the guidance matches the experience on the ground.

This feedback has taken over 45 minutes. We are not trained touch typists but even if we were we could not have done it in the 10-15 mins you suggested." Read full review: 12 nights in Africa; 11 on a Tanzania safari
