Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park.

It offers guided walking safaris...

...where you might spot some of the park’s fantastic birdlife...

...as well as a good amount of wildlife.

Ruaha is known for its dramatic scenery, including rolling hills...

...and open plains with skeletal baobab trees.

Ruaha’s wild and untrammelled feel sets it apart from other reserves.

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 1 Dec 2012 and 14 Dec 2012
"The planning and execution of the holiday was very well organized. We were well prepared and had very few problems that could not be solved.

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

No,your services were very good.

Will you be opening another similar service for Asia or South America? I would be interested!" Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 8 on a Tanzania safari

"Fantastic holiday"

I visited Tanzania between 18 Nov 2012 and 26 Nov 2012
"If you want a stunning park with lots of animals and very few people, Ruaha may well be for you.

I do recommend trying to stay both at Jongomero and at one of the camps in the north is you can: the landscapes (and weather patterns) are different, and it's a wonderful way to get a good sense for the sheer vastness of this wonderful place. Highly recommended." Read full review: 8 nights in Africa; 6 on a Tanzania safari

"Ruaha-a Dream come true"

I visited Tanzania between 15 Nov 2012 and 30 Nov 2012
"A superb safari which expert africa helped put together at short notice with several changes (Thankyou Angela), which enabled us to return to Tanzania with some intrepidation (could it still be as good ?). It was even better and whilst there are some issues in the modern world of conservation, we were thrilled with our experiences and the enthruing discussions around the fireplace in the evenings.

The most lions we have seen in 20 years of visiting Africa and these parks are a great place to see them.

"My Oct 2012 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 22 Oct 2012 and 4 Nov 2012
"The trip was great from beginning to end to the extent that I doubt whether a future trip would be more enjoyable.

Before arriving I particularly hoped to see wild dogs and leopard I saw these and, in addition, a large variety of other creatures including bat eared foxes, bush pigs, hyenas, jackals, various mongeese etc. plus a large variety of birds, I can't think that of anything significant that was missed and this was due to the abilities of the guides and drivers.

One of the most enjoyable holidays that I have had. I did not find a single member of camp staff who was not both knowledgeable and helpful (sometimes limited a little by a slight language barrier).

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

I have no particular comment to make regarding improvements to the the trip or service but see my comments with regard to the fly-camp.

Having only decided to make the trip at very late notice I was very impressed by the the holiday produced by Liz in the limited time available.

I would recommend the Expert Africa to others.

My apologies for not having replied sooner. The road to hell is paved with good intentions!!" Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 12 on a Tanzania safari

"My Sep 2012 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 27 Sep 2012 and 12 Oct 2012
"Our ninth safari and a return for a second visit to Ruaha and Selous. The game and sightings were as good as any we have experienced before anywhere.

We saw three different lion hunt and kills, a crocodile/impala kill and an unsuccessful leopard hunt in daylight. We had good wild dog sightings, plenty of various antelope and an excellent range of smaller animals; add a total of 220 species of birds in 12 days, many lizards and even a few snakes this trip- 2 pythons and a green snake (it's a harmless species - I don't mean a mamba or boomslang). Both Ruaha and Selous remain game rich and less tourist full than many other destinations. Selous is a favorite over Ruaha because of the availability of water safaris but to us a mixture of places makes a trip and the paucity of available water in Ruaha just concentrates the game.

Guiding was excellent at all the three camps we went to and the camps themselves reflected the range from bush camp to luxurious with none of them having any shortcomings. As usual the camp staff were unfailingly pleasant and efficient. One does not usually notice the domestic staff side of things but all the camps manage hotel type efficiency of cleaning, clothes washing and ironing and food production and all done out in the bush far from civilization.

We approached Expert Africa with two itineraries; a Zambia trip was not on because places were already booked but it was clear that a Southern Tanzania one was possible and in fact everything we wanted fell into place within a few days. Claire was efficient, friendly and you get the impression with expert Africa that they will keep on trying to get your trip right. On this occasion there was no problem. Our documents arrived in plenty of time as promised.

An excellent and enjoyable trip- Thank you

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

Our second trip organised by you and faultless really. We are experienced safari fans so perhaps we know what we want and what to expect more than some (Africa being Africa!), however knowing that your staff will have actually visited and have experience of many of the camps is comforting when planning and discussing places to go.

It would be good to see you cover Kenya and particularly Uganda." Read full review: 15 nights in Africa; 14 on a Tanzania safari

"My Sep 2012 trip"

I visited Tanzania between 22 Sep 2012 and 5 Oct 2012
"Absolutely fantastic and lived up to and in fact exceeded our expectations. We had been wanting to go on a safari for several years and when this year we finally decided that we would go we thought it was going to be Botswana.

However having had many very useful and informative phone calls with the Ellie and other members of the Expert Africa team we ended up going to Tanzania, and were delighted with our choice. Everything that Ellie said was accurate in every respect and we would not hesitate to return to a wonderful country, with fantastic people, scenery and wildlife

Ellie could not have been more helpful and our overall experience with the Expert Africa team was excellent. I would not hesitate to use Expert Africa again or indeed recommend them to other people.
