Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is Tanzania’s largest national park.

It offers guided walking safaris...

...where you might spot some of the park’s fantastic birdlife...

...as well as a good amount of wildlife.

Ruaha is known for its dramatic scenery, including rolling hills...

...and open plains with skeletal baobab trees.

Ruaha’s wild and untrammelled feel sets it apart from other reserves.

"Southern Tanzania/Zanzibar sept 2013"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 31 Aug 2013 and 11 Sep 2013
"An outstanding experience for all of us. Couldn't fault it, really.

Perhaps one less night on safari and one more at the beach would have been a better balance

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

No, it all went smoothly.

As advised, we got yellow fever vaccination exemption certificates (plane change in Nairobi) but these weren't asked for so maybe we could have done without them" Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 7 on a Tanzania safari

"Our August 2013 was fantastic!"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 24 Aug 2013 and 4 Sep 2013
"A huge thank you to Liz and Angela for organising our trip. It was very reassuring that when asked by staff at both camps who we had booked our trip with and we mentioned Expert Africa, they would nod and say that you are one of the best!!

This holiday really exceeded all our expectations and I for one would love to repeat it sometime in the future!

Suggestions to help us improve our trips or our service:

I think the thing I really liked about dealing with Liz in particular was because she has first hand knowledge of the areas we were visiting and I understand that is the case with all the staff at Expert Africa who have their own areas of expertise. I also really liked the gift of the Bradt guide that was sent to us on confirmation of our booking - a nice touch.

I would have no hesitation in using Expert Africa again and in recommending them to anyone wishing to travel to Africa." Read full review: 11 nights in Africa; 6 on a Tanzania safari

"Tanzania and Mozambique 2013"

I visited Tanzania and 1 other country between 22 Aug 2013 and 9 Sep 2013
"We had a wonderful trip and the transfers were, as ever, well organised, even through Nairobi airport. The places we stayed more than lived up to our expectations. The lodges were very quiet compared to last year and we did enjoy feeling exclusive. We enjoyed mostly having the game drive vehicles to ourselves. It is a shame that the lack of direct flights from the UK may be deterring people from visiting Tanzania, but we loved the quietness. We certainly had no problems although the return flight was more tiring and not so pleasant because of not being a through flight.

We were impressed with all our accommodation and are amazed with how such luxury is provided in the wilds of Africa. We did find that Mosiguard improved our tsetse fly experience. All the vehicles we used were comfortable. We can recommend a southern Tanzanian safari for the game we saw (everything bar rhino and wild dog), and the beautiful scenery and lovely people. I hope we shall return." Read full review: 18 nights in Africa; 14 on a Tanzania safari

"A truly memorable holiday"

I visited Zanzibar and 1 other country between 21 Aug 2013 and 7 Sep 2013
"The whole trip was everything we wished. One item not mentioned is the transfers in Zanzibar - these were excellent and we loved being picked up each time by the same guide who went out of his way to ensure we had a good holiday, with tips of places to go and diversions along the way - he loves his island home and was a pleasure to share it with.

And thanks to Liz for putting the itinerary together with us - we will be back." Read full review: 17 nights in Africa; 9 on a Zanzibar holiday

"Excellent holiday / honeymoon"

I visited Tanzania between 12 Aug 2013 and 25 Aug 2013
"Our trip exceeded all our expectations. We booked our flights (Emirates from London Gatwick to Dubai to Dar), spent one night at the Southern Sun in Dar, 3 nights at Lake Manze in the Selous and 4 nights at Mdonya in Ruaha before 5 nights at Butiama Beach in Mafia.

We very much valued the advice we were given by Expert Africa and we were certainly better prepared than most other travellers we met. All recommendations and comments given about hotels, lodges, flights were borne out by what we saw.

When we return to Africa, we will certainly plan to use Expert Africa again." Read full review: 13 nights in Africa; 13 on a Tanzania safari
