"Southern Sun Dar review"

0 night Arrived 12 Aug 2014
"The hotel was marvelous. Absolutely great. The problem was trying to drive from the airport to the middle of town (one hour or so), 2.5 hour stay at the hotel, and then an hour plus back to the airport. The drive back to the airport was a bit harried as we were not sure we would make it in time. In the end it was no problem but the return driver was very timid and certainly did not assuage our concerns. If at all possible find a place, even if much less lavish, nearer the airport." "Southern Sun Dar review"

1 night Arrived 12 Jul 2014
"We had a very short stay at the hotel, arrived late evening and left at 8 am the next morning. Overall a nice hotel with pleasant staff and very good breakfast, but it was a bit noisy. We had trouble sleeping because of loud talking late at night from one of the other rooms." See all these reviews: 8n in Tanzania

"although the premises are conveniently located, the rooms are very small and the airco was not maintaned. We slept in bad smell of humidity, typical of uncleaned airco filters." See all these reviews: 12n in Tanzania

"Just a normal hotel with facilities you would normally expect. Just fine as a transit hotel (which in our case was our 'contingency' time in case the train was significantly delayed)" See all these reviews: 12n in Zambia; 3n in Zanzibar; 1n in Tanzania

"One night stop-over in Dar"

1 night Arrived 12 Aug 2013
"We stayed at the Southern Sun for one night after flying into Dar, before flying out to the Selous the next day. Definitely a good call to stay overnight in Dar - we enjoyed our arrival in the bush far more than those who had been spat straight out from an international flight.

Good, clean hotel room and excellent cocktails and food in the bar and restaurant.

An added bonus after supper on returning to our room was a bottle of sparkling wine as we were on our honeymoon." See all these reviews: 13n in Tanzania
